Sheila and the Insects is a four-piece band whose numerous performances include originally written and cover songs of new and alternative music from the 80's and 90's.
The band appears regularly in venues such as Marina and Cafe Portico and in major concert productions at Hadsan Cove, Plantation Bay and Cebu Grand Convention Center, Bai and most of Cebu's popular nightspots to name a few.
Out-of-town appearances include productions held in the Metrocenter, Atmosphere and Kilum-Kilum in Tagbilaran and other cities such as Ormoc and Dumaguete.
The band has performed with bands like Rizal Underground, Kulay, Tropical Depression, Parliament Syndicate, Kulay and other bands.
Over the last few years, Sheila and the Insects has evolved to become one of the most sought after new music bands in the Cebu music scene. Recently, the band has had regular gigs at Meyrick's and Ratski, two of the most respectable culture hang-outs in Manila.
Inspired by the genius of post-punk/art-rock gods The Cure, Sonic Youth, The Smiths, and The Clash, Sheila and the Insects have reemerged, reconstructed, and reclaimed their almost lost rock n' roll hive, and "Quick To Panic", their latest ditty off the new album Flowerfish is apparently doing a remarkable job for them. Having released three albums independently prior to Flowerfish, Orven Enoveso (vocals/guitar) and Ian Zafra (guitar), the better half of Sheila and the Insects persisted to survive amidst priority differences between previous bandmates. From a silent break-up in January 2004, Enoveso and Zafra reset goals, regrouped three months later with ex-Urbandub Jerros Dolino (drummer) and ex-Glitch/Capsule Simon Nuñez (bass), then held their 8th anniversary concert at Kahayag Cafe, Mabolo, Cebu to officially announce the new lineup and their fresh comeback. A year later, the band re-issued their 2002 release and 3rd album Manipulator, and eventually signed a distribution deal with V3 Records. Sheila and the Insects rose from the coverband trap to being one of the trendiest bands along with their current international contemporaries The Killers, Bloc Party, and The Bravery.
