Shinobu Miyake

(三宅 しのぶ, )

Ataru's childhood friend and classmate. Until Lum showed up she was also Ataru’s girlfriend. She is a neat, clean, sweet, and petite young lady who can be viewed as the archetypically perfect Japanese female. Not long after Lum showed up Shinobu began to develop super-human strength. In the third movie, she lost her super strength when Lum left Earth, suggesting that Lum is the source of her strength. Like all female members of her class she has a huge crush on Mendou. She is often part of a "foursome" consisting of Ataru, Lum, Shuutaro, and herself. By the end of the series, however, she'd finally given up on Shuutaro, thinking herself a likely "old maid", until she met a young boy in a rabbit suit named Inaba. Voiced by Saeko Shimazu, Katherine Burten (Those Obnoxious Aliens), and Danielle Sullivan (English Movies).

In the French dub of the UY TV series, Shinobu is renamed Gaelle.
