Shogunna

Shogunna's story comes from that of an unrefined street life tale to an evolving journey of rebel without a cause to artist with a mission. Born and bred from the neighborhoods of New York City, Shogunna's music is infused with the heavy inspiration of hip-hop's golden era, when hip-hop was prospering as a revolution through culture and art. Such inspiration, coupled with the raw depiction of life growing-up in the challenging and defiant streets, one can feel the struggle for survival and its pain through his lyrics, rhyme by rhyme. Coming up under the street code, it can be intimidating for the uninitiated to understand the choices Shogunna has made. However, Shogunna's music certainly portrays more than just the power of his raps. It is the progression of reform which distinguishes him as an artist. It's definitely hard to not give up in circumstances where you're at the lowest, but it's certainly harder to turn that negative into a relentless determination to change. All metaphors aside, Shogunna is poised to stand in as an urban front-runner, representing the Asian American's continuing cause for artistic exposure. With his new release "Signed 2 the Streets," Shogunna is ready to accept change and to be a new voice for the next generation.
