Soapdish is a foursome composed of Jef Bolivar on guitars and vocals, Cesar Bendoy on bass, Terrence Teves on guitars and Kurt Floresca on drums. First formed in 2002. In 2004, the band released an EP entitled “The New Beautiful” to finance the recording of a full album. Five tracks of their recordings fell into the hands of V3 A&R, who immediately offered a recording contract.
V3 Label Head Mony Romana has no reservations with regards to the group’s potential: “Signing them was a no-brainer. Soapdish has a unique pop sensibility to them while retaining an alternative rock feel. Not much fanfare is required for them, their music speaks for themselves.”
True enough, devoid of any hype, the band’s first single “Ewan Ko” has slowly crept into the major rock and pop radio charts. A video directed by RA Rivera, is steadily gaining ground both MTV and Myx.
Other notable tracks on the album include “Tensionado” a heartfelt confession of love and regret, “Sana Sinabi” and “Pwede Ba?”
The sound of Soapdish is centered on emotions of melancholy that portrays life's (relationships' in particular) frustrations, attacked positively with an upbeat mood, accompanied by a rhythm that is very radio-friendly.
