Superfly

[Edit]
Overview
Superfly is a Japanese singer (formerly a duo) who mixes Japanese pop with 1960's and 1970's rock.

Superfly was formed in 2004 by the vocalist Ochi Shiho and the guitarist Tabo Koichi. The band made their major label debut in April 2007, with the single Hello Hello under Warner Music Japan label.

Before the release of the third single, Tabo Koichi left the duo. Despite this Ochi Shiho continued to release music under Superfly's name, as a soloist. Her first solo effort was the tour "Superfly 2007 Hello, We Love You". In November of 2007 she joined forces with the Australian band JET and released the single i spy i spy.

Her first single of 2008, "Ai wo Komete Hanataba wo" was used as the theme song to the dorama Edison no Haha. This single was Superfly's first big hit, which broke into the top twenty on the Oricon chart. In March of 2008, the song earned a gold certification for Chaku-Uta Full downloads from RIAJ. It would also be certified gold by RIAJ for PC downloads a month later.
Superfly released her self-titled debut album in May of 2008. It was her first release to reach #1 on the Oricon weekly chart.
