As a rapid learner and understands a situation better than anyone leads Reborn to claim that he is a "born hitman". However, Yamamoto is oblivious to the fact that he and his friends are mafiosi, believing that they are playing a game and that Reborn's weapons are toys. He uses a bat (given to him by Reborn) and a bamboo blade( from his father) in which both changes into a katana that he uses in his fights. Yamamoto searches for ways to defeat his opponent without mortal injury, such as using the back of his blade or not dealing a killing blow, and attempts to save his opponents as they are about to die. He balances his life between baseball and swordsmanship only devoting himself to swordsmanship when he needs to protect his friends

In the future, Yamamoto is more powerful becoming more accustomed to his family's sword styles and has even adopted Squalo's techniques as well. His older self uses different sword than his current self when using his rings. Using the boxes he summons When his younger self appeared Takeshi quickly learned how to use the rings, boxes and the techniques that his older self knows. In this time period, though, Yamamoto's father has died due to events that have happened. It is shown that Yamamoto is more mature and serious ,but his carefree attitude and will to help his friend still remains.

*Shigure Soen Ryu- a sword style that was passed down to him by his father consisted of 9 styles. Whoever inherits this style is able to recreate the 9th style with their own touch
*Kojirō-"Rondine di Pioggia"-When used a swallow aids in increases the power of his attack
*Jirō- his Akita Inu Vongola box weapon carries on its back, creates the quadruple irregular blade "Asari Ugetsu"
