The King of Midland is an old man well into his later years, as his name suggests he is the ruler of Midland the country the Band of the Hawk fights for. He respects Griffith greatly for his confidence and ability to win battles his other subjects have suffered defeat in. He reserves most of his love and true affection though for his young daughter by his first wife, Charlotte. This is in part due to his paternal feelings, but also because his daughter bears an uncanny resemblance to her late mother.
