"Tokko" is an anime that goes in a much different direction from others. It follows the story of Ranmaru Shindo, a police officer who is one of a small group of people that survived an attack by demons at an apartment building years before. "Tokko" is the name of the special section of the police force that fights against those demons, but the members of Tokko share a secret that sets them apart from the other police officers. Tensions between the different branches of the police department and hidden agendas lead to a conclusion that hints at a continued story, but after only thirteen episodes the story feels unfinished. Despite this fact, all of the characters are well developed, and even the ones who don't receive as much focus show their depth through their actions within the story. Ultimately, "Tokko" is an excellent anime that will hopefully be continued one day, but as long as you don't mind the open ending I highly recommend it.
"Tokko" is a mature themed anime and has strong language, graphic violence, blood and gore, some moderate sexuality, and brief nudity, so viewer discretion is advised.
