Space Cruiser Yamato is a classic from the 70's. It's story-line is similar to Battlestar Galactica but pre-dates it by three years. It's got epic ship to ship combat, drama and a classic story of man struggling against alien invasion. It's animation may seem dated and grainy, but if you can get past that it's really worth while.
