Void is the presumed leader of the God Hand a mysterious group of demons who were once human and have gained power over not only all other Apostles but supposedly destiny itself. He is the one who marks each person chosen for ritual sacrifice with the Brand as well as opens a tear in space that he uses to summon another dimension and other Apostles. The Skull Knight bears him a grudge due to events that transpired in the distant past and it is believed they may have once had a relationship very similar to that of Guts and Griffith.

In Berserk he is present from the very beginning of the story serving as the narrator for the opening sequence and all preview segments. It is also his hand that is holding the Crimson Behelit during the opening.
