"Viewers Incensed Over Cancellation of We Got Married for Two Weeks in a Row",
Monday August 18, 2008 Korea

With MBC opting to broadcast the baseball game between Korea and China at the Beijing Olympics 2008 yesterday, the regular broadcast of “We Got Married” was cancelled once again. This has led to many viewers being incensed at MBC’s scheduling and insisting on having the right to choose what they want to watch and not being forced to watch whatever is planned by them.

The production team of MBC Sunday Sunday Night had posted the cancellation notice less than 24 hours before the actual broadcast at 10.20pm on the official website, “Because of the live broadcast of the baseball game tomorrow, Sunday Sunday Night will not be shown, we hope that viewers can understand.”

This abrupt notice left many viewers disappointed, “Granted that the Olympics are very important, but you can’t possibly stop showing Sunday Sunday Night for two consecutive weeks.” Before the cancellation notice was posted on late Saturday night, there were already many discussions on the official website where many wrote that they were looking forward to a new episode of “We Got Married” after the cancellation the week before. The wait continues.

Although the ratings for the Olympics broadcast have been really good, but it has also led to many variety shows and dramas on the three major tv stations to take a backseat and left many viewers feeling incensed at this sudden disruption and asking for their right to choose what they want to watch.

We Got Married Not So Original Afterall?
August 19, 2008 by coolsmurf
MBC Sunday Sunday Night segment, “We Got Married” is now being accused of plagarism. This plagarism claim was made by one Korean media and it spread like wildfire across the internet, invoking fierce discussions about it.
According to the claim, the basic concept amd some parts of “We Got Married” are somewhat similar to a Japanese variety called “Koisuru Hanikami” by TBS Japan in 2006. Both shows sets up male and female celebrities together and hands them a mission to accomplish on that episode. The cameras then follows the celebrities around the whole day plus the same interview segments.
With regards to this, the PDs of “We Got Married” has denied the allegations and insisted that they have not watched “Koisuru Hanikami” before at all. But netizens are apparently not letting this go away that easily.
Most netizens gave their support to “We Got Married”, “The program has already been airing for a long time, they claimed it’s plagarism because of similar segments, that is ridiculous”, “Although the Olympics are good to watch, but we also want to watch We Got Married. Not only has it been pre-empted for the past weeks but with these plagarism allegations now, it’s quite a pity.”
There were some netizens who was unhappy about this, “I thought the program was really innovative all this while. But now with these plagarism claims, it’s pretty disappointing”, “I thought the program was really good to watch, but since all these is copied, I don’t feel very good now”.
The good publicity and vibes of “We Got Married” has gone downhill in recent weeks with the non-show of the program for two consecutive weeks and possibly this weekend included. Will these plagarism claims hurt the show ratings even further considering that “Family Outing” is really catching up? Is Kang Soo Jung really a jinx? Stay tuned as the drama unfolds.

i did hear the news of the whole plagarism but honestly other shows have been copied too.
i like both jap./korean shows but i mean this makes sense but then again not..

for example:
the korean show jihwaza has a segment where you have to pose and go through this cut out figure which was seen before on a japanese show [Japanese Tetris or something]

also, SBS/Comedy TV/MBC all made shows similarly to WGM.
Some of the shows have celeb's with reg. ppl. and the life, some have celebs living together and what not... i mean it is kind of the same but shows do "copy" one another all the time.

I can see why some netizens would be disappointed but WGM has gone on for 21 episodes which is a few months and this just came up. The allegations of accusing the PD's of watching the show is easily deniable as they could of not seen the show or they did and they are lying... No proof is shown that the PD's did watch the japanese show before...

I can understand this accusation but sometimes i think that is happens all the time and it sometimes gets attention and sometimes not. i guess i hope everything works out okay...

"Suh In-young will get naked on one condition",
Tuesday August 19, 2008 Korea

Suh In-young confessed that she will not get naked anytime soon, but naked family portrait is fine. Mrs. Ant elaborated by saying that she would have nude shots taken of her, her future husband and child in a foreign country. Why does she need to go to a foreign country to get naked? And, why would she even want to get a nude family shot?

Suh In-young also added that people have approached her to do a nude photoshoot but she will not lower herself even if the offer was several hundred thousand dollars.

And that’s what you call strong moral standards.

Suh In-young’s honest answers were for the SBS FM Radio program, “Choi Hwa-jung’s Power Time,” which aired on August 18th 2008.

"TV couple that invokes envy: Hwang Bo and Hyun Joong",
Tuesday August 19, 2008 Korea

Today's current trend is younger men-older women couples. What was once a difficult scene to see is now seen easily as you go about on the streets. Also those who once rejected and looked at these relationships through colored lenses are now wishing "I want to try it once too...".

MBC's WGM's youngest couple are Hyun Joong and Hwang Bo. Although they started a little later than the other couples, the both of them are now celebrating their 100th day of marriage with a commemorative wedding photo shoot. Hwang Bo, who was left alone in Korea when the other couples (Andy- Solbi, Crown J- In Young, Alex- Shin Ae) were having their wedding photo shoots because her husband Hyun Joong was away in Japan for work related activities, can now put aside the disappointment then with the photo shoot now.

Compared to the other couples, the both of them were relatively more awkward with each other when they started. However, although their conversations are sometimes stalled with moments of awkward silences, the both of them can be seen to be becoming more and more in tune with each other. Based on their dates of birth, fortune master Lee Kyung Min will study their individual love luck and their harmony, as well as ways for the both of them to appeal to each other. His remarks about Hyun Joong and Hwang Bo's union was "The older meets the younger, brings about harmony. Great."

Hyun Joong's love luck:

The chances of him meeting older women are higher. More older women will be attracted to him compared to younger women. This is because most older women would feel comfortable around him, resulting in his high popularity with older women.

It is also likely that Hyun Joong will marry someone older than him. This type of birth details show that he is someone who is more delicate than he looks, somewhat similar to the psychology of a woman. It is because of this that it would be better to marry an older woman who could protect him.

Plus, it would be better for him to marry early as it would enhance his fortune. A late marriage will not be lucky for him so it would be better to meet a woman early and marry while he is in his twenties or early thirties.

Hwang Bo's love luck:

She is exceptionally stubborn and proud, opinionated and is not the type to give in. As she would not be able to lead in a relationship with someone of the either the same age or older than her, it would be better for her to meet someone younger that she can lead. If she meets someone younger, their relationship would be a better match as they would be able to communicate and develop further.

Based on her birth details, she is likely to marry late. Even if she meets a good person, it would be better for her to date him for one to three years before marrying him. Rather than getting married hastily, it would be better for her to get to know the person first before marrying him.

Hyun Joong and Hwang Bo's marital harmony:

As they are both a younger man- older woman couple, they are able to achieve harmony. They are a well fitted couple as the woman leads and the man follows. They are also a couple that would not have any huge arguments and their difference in age allows them to understand each other. Since their characters are at opposite ends of the pole, they are able to harmonize each other, which can be said to be a good thing.

If Hyun Joong was to steal Hwang Bo's heart:

As Hwang Bo's exterior seems to be tougher than a man, she naturally leads. However, Hyun Joong should also lead at times, showing his manly side and the side of him that he is able to lead. He shouldn't be timid and be more manly, knowing when to lead and not to, showing his charms which are appealing.

If Hwang Bo was to steal Hyun Joong's heart:

From his birth details, Hyun Joong is the type that likes women who can make him feel her warm side and are able to take care of him, showing him her heart. If she does this, then he will go towards her.

WGM Is Getting sued?
Wednesday August 20, 2008

There are rumors going around that WGM is being sued by a Russian cable company accused of a plagiarism! (some say it's a Japanese company .. who knows?) This plagarism claim was made by one Korean media and it spread like across the internet.

Apparently, the producers of WGM have done some fantastic plagiarism job in terms of copying everything down in terms of concept to idea from this Russian show (or the japanese show .. or both?) ... the only difference between the two said shows is that the Korean one has celebrities features on the show whereas the Russian one has the normal folks.

The word has it the reason MBC has been delaying airing the show for 3 weeks in a row hiding behind the mask of Olympic games is to figure out a way to get away with the legal stuff threatening the TV station. Meanwhile the WGM opponent's show Family's Outing which aired this week rated 21% viewership hit their highest rating ever and turned out such a blow in the face of MBC.

I think MBC shouldve aired WGM instead of delaying it. Now the popularity is going downhill & its competitor " Family Outing" is getting more viewership w.o WGM competing. They deserved it since they cancelled it at the last min. + with all the plagiarism stuff going on idk how its rating will be & is MBC gonnna keep on cancelling WGM cos of the Olympic? FAMILY OUTING didnt cancel theirs & its doing pretty good.

So it was started by one of Korea’s very own “media,” and yet again was spread like wild fire by the netizens, who just happen to keep on pouring gas on the damned fire. Aren’t they doing exactly what the group that sparked the fire wants?

Seriously, even I knew that these types of shows weren’t EXACTLY “original.” I have seen Blind Date and a bunch of other dating shows before and reading from wikipedia, that Japanese show Koisuru Hanikami, is not that different from it. But seriously? How can they say that the WGM is plagarized? Can you honestly say that a television show these days is COMPELTELY ingenious? I don’t think so. They might as well say that the Japanese show was plagarized from Blind Date, it seems like those two have a lot more in common. Geez.

The media who spread this news are probably on some sick mission to lower the viewership ratings for WGM due to the pool of envy they’re drowning in right now. Seriously, why can’t they just calm down and try to think of some of their own ideas on how to raise THEIR own viewership ratings instead of lowering that of the competitions to make them look good ? Just imagine, if the competition has high ratings, but yours was high-ER because of your own shows and not because of your cheap-bashing-to-gain-popularity gigs, then that would be better. They should learn how to mind their own business. It’s not like they’d gain any sort of fame if they’re some “unknown Korean media” that’s bashing WGM. Since it’s anonymous, it’s not guaranteed that those that will stop watching WGM will go and run to watching whatever show they’re airing on their network anyway.

I happen to think that WGM is a great show either way, and it’s definitely better than Blind Date and all those other dating programs I've seen so far. I still think it’s entertaining and although it’s not completely original it definitely has it’s own flare. I mean, they're not just DATING... they're MARRIED !!! The viewers mostly watch for the “development of relationships” in the program anyway. Now that jealous media can’t exactly say that what the cast are feeling in the show are “plagarized,” can they?

To all who are disappointed and about finding out that WGM is not original and want to stop watching because of this reason; please try searching up half the things you enjoy to watch or listen to, and look at all the criticisms you find about those. I’m sure you’d be VERY disappointed about everything by then; but can you stop watching/listening to almost everything just because they’re no longer original? I don’t think so. So let’s stop being so critical and just continue to enjoy what we’re given.

Whatever those unhappy and incredibly critical netizens say, let’s continue to support WGM. We all don’t want to be left hanging after watching as far as episode 21, do we?

Hwang Bo: "I don't feel bad about Jung Ryeo Won's success",
Wednesday August 20, 2008 Korea

Hwang Bo talked about the dissolution of girl group Chakra.

Hwang Bo revealed on Radio Star that she didn't know why the group Chakra disbanded.

She said that she initially didn't have the intention of becoming a singer, but she was approached by an agency and asked her to try out as a member of a group and led her to start activities with a group. After participating, she said that she knew how she could rap using a voice similar to that of Lee Sang Min.

She then said that that was how she became a member of Chakra. When Chakra disbanded in 2004, she said that she wasn't aware of the reason and that she had felt rather sad. She had thoughts such as she was the only one who wanted to be a singer. She also said that the reason why they disbanded was probably so that the members of Chakra could each go their own ways.

She added that she didn't feel bad about Jung Ryeo Won and the other members doing better than her. She said that when Chakra was active, she felt really bad to the other members as she was the only one receiving all the attention, which was why she doesn't feel bad at all about the other members doing well now.
