Not only a children anime

At first glance you might say "oh, another kids anime, let's cross this one out" ... but no.

This anime is pretty cool once you watch a couple of episodes, and the plot is nice: a kid who's afraid of computers who ironically can Web Dive through the Net.

Every character has it's personality:

Yuta: if you meet him, in 5 seconds you're friends with him
Pit(Red): the cool guy who wants to be the best Web Ghost
Pot(Yellow): likes to eat and eat and eat
Pat(Blue): an internet genius who knows almost everything about the Net.

... and these are just the 4 main characters. There are lots of other friends that Yuta and PiPoPa meet while in the Net... and also some enemies.

So why don't you give PiPoPa a chance?

The highlight of Web Ghosts PiPoPa is its imaginative take on the internet. The setting is an important aspect of any series and the Web World passes this test with flying colours.

While the series starts out with an episodic series of misadventures exploring the web world, it really hits its stride once the plot kicks in. The conflicts revolve around the effects of messing with the internet on the real world, which feels believeable especially in the high-tech city that the main characters live in. Unfortunately, the plot progression can be rather a stretch at times and, even worse, it sometimes feels like the writers aren't even consistent with the world rules. Ultimately, you have to take the story as part of the kid's series it is, which is a shame because some of the events later go pretty deep for what western viewers might be used to in a kid's series.

If you can look past that, there is a lot to enjoy. The characters are a strong aspect and their character designs are great, especially within the web world. In fact, I'd say that the characters, rather than the plot, is what made the series so enjoyable for me.

After watching the whole series of Web Ghosts, I must say I was very pleased overall. Since this a kids' show at heart I was glad to see that it gave good messages like world peace, friendship and many other ideals people strife for. Not to say that adults won't enjoy this anime as well; Any person who has ever had trouble with computers can understand Yuta's technophobia (and many can appreciate Web Venus especially XP). Overall, I rate Web Ghosts PiPoPa very highly and recommend it to kids and kids-at-heart.
