X is about a teenager named Kamui, who's name means to fufill the will of God. He returns to tokyo after some years of absence once his mother passes away very traumatically. He is reunited with his two childhood friends Kotori and Fuuma. Kotori was Kamui's chiildhood sweetheart and she is still in love with Kamui although he inexplicably treats her and Fuuma very harshly. Kamui is supposedly the chosen one and the forces of good and evil are basically trying to win him to their respective sides. a twist of fate occurs after Kamui chooses to become one of the 7 angels or protectors of earth, and when he does, Fuuma is revealed to be his twin star or opposing force. The rest of the drama is the fight between the 7 dragons (who want to destroy the earth) and the 7 angels who want to protect it. Many from both sides are lost and depending on if its the movie or the anime, Kamui realizes what he must do to reveal his destiny and either destroy or save Fuuma
