Yu-Gi-Oh the infamous anime and card battle game series, which has been going on for 10 years now has been a part of my life for 8 of those 10 years. To me I was very wary of this series to begin with as I personally didn't care much for Yu-Gi-Oh GX, so this series got me worried when I saw the original trailers. Still at least the dude on the red motorbike looked cool (this was my original thought). But enough about the history lesson and life story lets begin the review, but please remember this review is towards the JAPANESE VERSION of the anime. The dub of this anime is not worth mentioning as it is a disater and a sin to all mankind.
WARNING THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS!
The story behind 5D's is fairly long but I'll do my best. It all starts off in the first series, with two different cities. Satellite and Neo Domino City, the people of Neo Domino live carefree lives filled with wonder and technology as well as Riding Duels and D-Wheels (I'll go over this in a minute). Whilst the people of Satellite are rated no better then criminals, and have markers on their faces to prove this. Working hard labour just so the City can thrive. Our story follows Yusei Fudo an 18 year old male who is pictured as he attempts to go to the city, in order to find his old friend Jack Atlas. Who is at the time the King of Riding Duels in the city, so he can obtain the card that Jack stole from him. Stardust Dragon!
During this time to get to the city Yusei has to overcome many trails and when he finally faces Jack off in about episode 4 and 5, we find out there is more to it then before (Like you never saw that coming). As a crimson Dragon appears as Yusei and Jack's ace monsters Stardust Dragon and Red Deamon's Dragon clash in the stadium. The Duel has no outcome and Yusei gets arrested and given the criminal marker, after several more trails in the facility. Yusei gets out and meets many more friends including the twins Rua and Ruka. Though after sneeking away in the night Yusei is invited to the Fortune Cup for a chance against Jack once again. Meanwhile Jack finds out the truth behind the weird birthmarks of his and Yusei's (which appeared during their duel). He learns that they are both Signers and will one day have to face off against a great evil to protect the world.
After Yusei departs from the twins Jack meets him and gives him back Stardust, as he is prepared to fight Yusei once again in the Fortune Cup. The day before Yusei comes across a mysterious hooded figure in the Diamon Area, who claims that she too has 'that wrecthed mark'.
Then the day of the Fortune Cup comes and it is revealed that two more Signers are revealed at this time. One being the sweet innocent Ruka and the other being the mysterious cloaked woman who is revealed to be a Pyschic Duelist under the name Aki Izayoi. The cup is intense leading to a final between Aki and Yusei to face Jack, in this the characters really shine forward especially Aki who is by far the BEST YGO female in any series. Dark, powerful and amazing at dueling (also good looking as well lol!). During the final final duel in the Fortune Cup, it is later found out that a big darkness is coming. Which is later revealed to be the Dark Signers, so it is up to Yusei, Jack, Ruka and Aki to save the world.
The first series covers this and the Dark Signer arc where the fifth and final Signer is revealed. (Though in my opinion this character Crow should not have been the last Signer. Or is he?)
The Second series and final series by the looks of it covers the events of the WRGP and the Arc Cradle arc. I won't go into much detail, but there is an amazing storyline and even the filler episodes are actually worth watching. Making this a first for any anime.
The animation is amazing, and in HD the amazing animation comes through brillantly. Also noted that YGO 5D's is the only series to have widescreen support and formation for the riding duels. The music is beyond belief, I've personally bought both soundtracks and downloaded all the full version of each opening and ending as well as insert songs. Just listen to Road to Tommorrow, Going my Way! and tell me I'm lying.
The storyline is the darkest and most mature storyline for a YGO series, which most of it had to be edited out of the 4Kids dub. Though once again really reflects on problems in the world. This implaies the poor and rich divide in society with Satellite and Neo Domino City. Which is good to see as it shows that the story isn't as wacky or silly as GX was. The characters are the best in any series, Yusei is a serious but kind hearted mechanic who also values his friends happiness above his own. Jack is very serious and also very prideful and arrogant. Though he has his moments in the series. Aki is by far one of the better characters in the series, she is a dark, sombre character to begin with, but later on we see a senstive and emotional character which shows great beauty in my opinion. Rua the hyperractive twin is funny and amusing to watch. Whilst Ruka is the twin with her head firmly on her shoulders. Crow isn't worth mentioning.
Overall YGO 5D's is by far the best YGO series yet and will ever be (Why is this being replaced soon by Zexal?). This should be a final huzzah so watch this anime whilst you still can. It is still going on until Spring of 2011 so go on enjoy. Also please note that don't just judge it because of Riding Duels. The concept is very clever and most of the best duels in this series are the best in YGO history. That is all folks, enjoy the best YGO yet. *goes riding through the wind* RIDING DUEL ACCELERATION!

Yugioh 5d's starts in two cities once they were one, Satellite and Neo Domino City, Criminals, the Gedo live in Satellite usually doing community service, Sector Security Controls all in Satellite it seems, Meanwhile Neo Domino City is a fantasy Metropolis... Our protagonist of the Story Yusei Fudo is trying to Neo Domino City with his newly Built Duel Wheeler to settle the score with Jack Atlus and get his Stardust Dragon back..
Yugioh 5D's is one of few good animes out there, You don't really need to like Yugioh to watch it, it has many interesting characters and very good story arcs may get strange or Sci-fi sometimes but that's a cool new way of storylines, many animes failed atempting Sci-fi Yugioh 5D's never did atleast to me I would rate it 6000/10! I really recorment to watch it if you can find it on youtube or other video sites just watch it you'll see how good it is!
