Won't be short, but you'll like it

I've got to say one thing before i start, okay maybe two. D-A-M-N, that was a good series. I was actually trying to put off watching the 48th episode for like 20 minutes when i got to it because i didn't want to see such a great anime end. Next, dafaq i just realized how irrelevant kirche and guices familiars were after season one. I mean seriously i never saw them again.... SOooooo.... On with the review.

Overall it was a great anime for a first time eechi for someone getting into it. No panty shots, but a more old school harem feel. The characters had fun personalities and the plot always stayed on track. However it was unfortunate how fast the plot moved at certain times, but i certainly loved every second of it. I find the best part of this series was the ability to tie in jokes into the story without wanting to slap someone. They drew no attention away from what was going on and made you crack up to the point that people passing by your room would ask you if you were okay. I loved the irony of pervertedness between saito's love for breasts and lousie's lack of. Also, i enjoyed how tamed the story started with no love, to sort of love, to 2 girl love then +girl +girl until there was a harem. The best animes fallow this trend and then the first girl usually gets him because she is perfect which i do believe louise is( i like emerca lousie better). Only thing i was confused about was the season 2 ender were they got "married" i didn't get it at all because they revist marriage at the end of season 4 which made me happy on the inside. I felt so happy for the people who watched in 2006 and finally got to see their love finish in 2012. However myself i got to see it in 48 consecutive episodes while wishing they were all in English.

TLDR: its the perfect anime, don't be stupid, watch it 10/10, lousie is a babe, only thing missing is panty shots but their is a beach vacation ova that makes up for it. yep.[[SPOILERS]]

My thoughts on Zero no Tsukaima (every season)

5.0Overall
Its rare that a anime that has been recommended to me by many people turns out to be a show i really really love, that being said after a year of being told to try Zero no Tsukaima i finally gave in. The first season of this anime is basically an introduction to the world that the main character Saito has been dragged into. The story of the first season revolves around Saito and Louise who have been forced to become master and familiar because of a ritual. To be honest i didn't expect much going into this anime because of all the hype i assumed it was going to be another one of those shows that everyone loves for no real reason but to my pleasant surprise i was wrong. The humor is important to any romantic comedy, that being said most of humor in this anime revolves around Saito's misery. The other important thing thats important to a romantic comedy is the romance, and i must say they did the romance incredibly well. Saito and Louise establish a romantic relationship by season 2, which is refreshing if you consider that most anime wait til the end of a series so as to have the romantic element between the main characters be the climax of the anime. Not only that but the series also has consistant character development throughout the seasons, most of the characters have their own arcs that explain thiere backstory/reason for being where they currently are. Most people dont like the second season as much as the first season due to how serious the second season was compared to the first season, i on the other hand loved the more serious tone the second season gave. While it might have been more serious there alot of key moments that to me were very satisfying like:
The third season was probably the weakest, not bad but the weakest out of the four. Season 3 tries to be a mixture of the humor of the first season and the more seriousness of the 2nd season. It doesn't fail in those aspects but i don't think that is was executed as well as it could have, but that being said season 3 had plenty of great arcs my favorite being tabitha's arc. Season four was a great mix between seasons one and two, it has great humor but is complemented by more serious moments. That being said my favorite part of season four was the climax because it was just done so well
The animation in all four season is consistent and quite colorful, even through the serious moments the animation still remains lively which is refreshing. That isn't to say that this anime didn't have issues, probably my biggest issue i had with this was all the fan service, yes fan service it was the only irritating part of the show is the fan service and when is say that i mean there really isn't all too much up until season 3. If you can get past fan service (which i did after a couple of episodes of season 3) then you will be able to enjoy what i consider to be one of the most enjoyable anime's of all time.

Overall i give Zero no Tsukaima a 4.5/5

Zero no Tsukaima Series Review Part 1

Final Rating: 3.5/5.0

To celebrate the long awaited arrival of the fourth season of The Familiar of Zero, I'm going to do a review for each season of this anime. The Familiar of Zero or Zero no Tsukaima is a hit and miss series if I look at it at a broader prospective and would put it as average but overall, I love this anime series. It has things that I like about this anime and things that I don't like about this anime. I love the romantic and comedic chemistry between the two main leads, I like the story even if predictable and I like some of the supporting characters but I don't like some of the supporting characters, the art style and character designs are absolutely mediocre and it is ridden with cliche's that have been overused in many other animes.

The Familiar of Zero is set in an alternate dimension where magic is all real. I would also probably go further saying that the set up is quite similar to Harry Potter. It's set in a boarding school that teaches magic, they have wands, they have an old, white bearded principal and so on but I'm not going to go any further than that. The story follows Louise, a second year student and the lowest ranking student in the school because she can't cast basic spells. When it was the time for students to summon animal familiars, Louise instead summons a Japanese boy from our world named Saito.

The story in this season is mainly focused on the developing relationship between Saito and Louise after the summon and the majority of their romantic gags involves violence and beatings, one time going into borderline sadomasochism while in progression, Louise finds out a deeper meaning in her inability to cast basic spells and Saito's joint destiny with her. I do find the main gag of violence tiresome and repetitive and if it didn't have Saito and Louise's overall romantic chemistry and just those gags, this anime would've sucked but even with the gags, the overall story telling is quite fun. The big problem with its story for this season and the whole series is its overused cliche's that other animes have overused but to be fair, its more of an indulgence than an annoyance.

Louise is a good example of a "tsundere" done right thanks to Rie Kugimiya's trademark voice work and complex personality. If you're going to have a tsundere character, develop her with a legit reason instead of "just because" and Louise's character nails it. She is pressured to be the best because of her family's status of nobility which makes her prideful but she is completely incompetent with magic which makes her insecure and it goes so well with her tsundere nature. Saito, even though he has some of the typical dumbass male protagonist characteristics, is actually a very funny character and one of the few males protagonists in animes that is actually likable. Even though he ogles and flirts with other girls, he is completely faithful to Louise in the end, even though I think he's an absolute masochist from the way Louise violently abuses him. Saito and Louise's romantic chemistry is one of the reason why I love this series and what makes it good. In my opinion, they are one of the better anime couples. I actually thought Louise's fits of rage induced jealousy whenever Saito flirts with other girls is really funny even if it can get quite repetitive. The supporting characters are hit and miss. Some are really funny and some just feel pointless.

The low point of this series is its art style and character design. The art style is as bland as animes can get and the character designs are pretty boring to look at. The animation is quite decent and have some decent action scenes but it's not enough to save the art style from blandness.

Overall: A decent first season of an anime I enjoy out of indulgence.
Story: Though gags and jokes can get tiresome and does suffer from overused anime cliche's, the story is enjoyable and fun.
Music: Ridiculously catchy even if its your typical J-pop.
Characters: The romantic and comedic chemistry between the two main leads is what makes this anime good. Louise is an example of how to make a good tsundere character and Saito is one of the few good male characters in a romance ecchi anime though the some of the supporting cast are boring and one dimensional.
Animation: In my opinion, the whole series' weak point. Though very colourful and some action scenes are executed quite well, the art style is bland and flat and the character designs are not very interesting.

Shesta's uncle is so funny XD. I really hope they have a season 4. There are just so many things that need to be finished, but im kinda sure that there going to make season 4 of Zero no Tsukaima. I think they are going to make it right after they make a season 3 of Shakugan no Shana. I really love this anime!!! I hope they make season 4!

this anime is pretty awesome. kinda wish i was the familiar of louise... though i dont know if i can handle getting blown up every 30 seconds. Made me laugh real at the end of the episode where saito tried to save siesta from this one guy and saito had to give the guy a book that can get girls to like him or something and it turned out to be a japenese porn mag. kinda funny when saito uses a fighter plane against dragons. i wont reveal any more for this season. just that this series makes you laugh and makes you wish you were saito...

Well , ok let's see how we do this. In short :

Awesome !!!

I have to say this is in my personal top 5 anime ! Why ? Well i can categorize it the same way as it is above :

Storyline :

The story isn't what you call unique , though it is very well thought out. It has magic , romance , love polygon , ecchi ( spiciness >:) ) , school life , slapstick type anime. It's a comedy , so there are moments in which you laugh your ass off. For everyone who likes to see true , deep passionate kisses this anime will not disappoint you. It is also the "boing" style anime , so for all you pervs and tit maniacs out there it's perfect. Censored though so don't get over-expecting. *5* from me , since the anime got me so hooked up that i haven't slept much for the last 2 days just so i can finish it .

Music:

Appropriate to the mood and circumstances. I like it since it's never gotten do bother me so i give it a *5*

Characters:

Mostly female. All types , to everyone's liking. Enjoy ! *5* from me since in this anime i found not one but THREE girls i like ! (drool)

Animation:

High-quality, well thought out. As i said it's an anime with magic , so there are effects , and when those moments come you can see how well the animation team has done it's job ! *5*

Overall:

I just happened to have some free time left to spend and i looked for some good anime. I found this ... and ... I LOVED IT !
Original, phantasmal, ominous, action, tragedy ( at moments ) , romance, comedy, ecchi. How could i resist ? Couldn't ! So watch Zero no Tsukaima - you won't regret it! *5* !!!

One of my faourite animes!

Every comedy lover should watch this!

This is the most awesome comedy anime I have watched so far! Besides Comedy, it's also Romance, Mahou and little Ecchi.
It is very interesting and freaking hilarious!
You already know the story so I won't be bothering you with it.

It is full of Romance and, oh yeah, kissing. Especially in the last episodes of the seasons. It can even make you cry. But after that something happens what shouldn't have happened (which is very funny) and the story goes on.

Ecchi elements are more related with Comedy so it won't bother female watchers.

You don't wanna miss this one!

UPDATE (12th September 2010): Recommended for newbies!
