The anime I wanted from SAO
First off, this anime is NOTHING LIKE SAO, other than the fact that they are stuck in an MMORPG. Despite that, SAO was the main reason why I tried Log Horizon out in the first place, so that's what I'll be comparing it to.
Being a MMORPG player and a person who likes to excessively ponder in my free time, I was very intrigued by the premise of SAO and dove straight into it, expecting some ...

Entertaining and very well thought out.
I'll be brief. Log Horizon is solid. It's got fluid animation, a solid game-like soundtrack, a reasonably intelligent story, an awesome setting, and cool characters.

    Some other good points:
    1) No fanservice. None.
    2) Doesn't take itself too seriously but can easily be taken seriously by the audience.
    3) The MC is a mage! And he has a personality!
    4) It doesn't always focus on the ...

    Great anime, very unique.
From the start I knew some people were going to complain about it because of their undying love for SAO and .hack. This anime is nothing like .hack and SAO except for the fact indeed they are stuck and it's a game where they are in it. The characters are dressed like their class, each character has it's own great personality, and they even have different races. If I was to say this was closely ...

    look, it's Log Horizon...
it isn't Sword Art Online or .hack. if you appreciate it for what it is, you'll have a better chance of enjoying it. it gives off a really 'fun' feel and maintains a bright and light hearted aesthetic without diluting the gravity of the dire situation that the characters are in. the feeling that i get from Log Horizon is akin to the feeling that i got from Monster Rancher when i was younger. i ...

    SAO? not really.....
Honestly, saying this show is like SAO is like saying Mario Kart is like Gran Turismo because they both have vehicles in it. Yes, the setting is pretty similar, a bunch of people are stuck in a RPG where they cant log off, but that is really where the commonality stops. This show is much more "shonen-ized" (i know that isnt a real word) and light-hearted than SAO, with the consequence of death in ...

    It's not what you think
I know, SAO, or .hack right? Although I see the commonality, i feel like this show has potential to rid that "carbon copy" feel. The characters provide a sturdy team feel, with tastes of comedy. I'm curious to see where this show will go, give it a chance.

I adore Log Horizon. Everything I wanted.
Log Horizon is everything I ever wanted in a story about being inside an MMO.

Each of the characters in the show feels like someone you could have met in an MMORPG before. They feel like people more than they feel like characters, and that's a phenomenon I've dearly missed in anime. They don't stop doing things once they're off-screen---the next time you see someone, they might be up to ...

    HIGHLY recommended !
I don't know if there is much more to say about this anime than it is a must watch. The character interaction and world building are on a whole different level than your average anime and it brings a much needed revamp to the "trapped in a video game" concept. It is less about the action (and completely overpowered teenage heroes) and instead focuses on the societal aspects of being trapped in a ...

Not a SAO clone, unique and better if you ask me!
Alot of people are complaining about this anime not being like SAO or Hack, but if you ask me you can't really compare the two anime. Sure they are MMO based but you don't compare school anime because they're based in school's?

This anime caters mainly to more MMO type people and is more lighthearted then SAO, which I think is a fantastic quality.

The characters are fun and unique and I ...

    Exellent intellectual anime
The first I heard about this anime was that it was "Like SAO, but not." Not super helpful as reviews go, and honestly, it wasn't very accurate.

This is an anime that does not hinge on battles or love triangles-- that, in and of itself, makes it kind of an odd one. It has both (well, only sorta on the latter), but they take a back seat to the world itself and the way the players explore their ...
