    Artistically brilliant
This anime is about dealing with the depression of loss. The protagonist is contrasted against a beautifully crafted atmosphere, illustrating what it is to feel alone in public, or numb to what's around you, no matter how beautiful it might be. To go through the motions of life without really feeling alive. It's also not only focused on the protagonist, and shows the efforts of those around him to ...

In like a lion, and out with a tissue box
So, these are just my first impressions of the show's first episode, without having read any of the manga.

It's superb. Everything feels integrated extremely well. The animation is fluid and well thought out, I'm really only seeing a problem with how some of the textures on moving characters and objects are integrated, and a few of the CG things. (Vehicles, mainly.) The backgrounds and effects ...

so far really really good. some people might not like the art style though but so far the characters seem really interesting with their interactions with MC etc etc. and by god the music soundtrack is gonna be so amazing when it all comes out. really looking forward for the rest of this series to come out ^.^

Very Good Anime (Granny by style)
I was compelled to write a review of this masterfully done anime.
I don't know what issues Blupixie-san may have who wrote the last review but the style of the anime is "Grainny" on purpose.

The story is about a professional Shogi player whos battling depression and inner demons, the full plot is not yet been flushed out but the anime is a "Oh God the Feels" type of anime.

    Enjoy

The Anime is like the Manga...
...at its core, this is a tragic coming-of-age story wrapped in a heart-warming comedy. I'm really happy to see that the anime has the feels spot on from the manga. The opening music and character voices really go together, and the setting for everything is perfect. Overall this is the reason I love anime.

    The Sisters save this.
Real life sucks. Betrayal, loss, doubt, isolation are real world things. "March comes in like a lion" centers on these thoughts and feelings. Episodes heavy in shogi are remarkably dull, drawn out, and just plain unappealing to me. Episodes featuring the sisters are so engaging and well done that it overcomes the darkness flooding the vast majority of episodes. Hence my rating of 4 stars. Why? ...

    embodiment of anxiety
this show is the embodiment of anxiety. every doubt, negative thought, and uncertainty you have ever had is pretty much expressed or addressed in the wonderful anime. the art work is amazing and the pace of the story moves at the right speed to constantly grip your attention. the emotional baggage of the main character is exquisite, making it a must watch.

    Ridiculously Endearing
This show might not be for everyone, its very slow moving. But honestly these are some of the best characters I have met watching anime.

This show moves from light hearted to dark in a way that feels very real and human. Although the show is about Shogi, that is really not the central theme of this show. Loss and how one deals with loss is its central theme, and you get to watch its main ...

Trying to find a place in the world.
The storyline defines a smart guy, bad with relationships, fighting to find his place in the world.

I would say is oriented towards adult viewers or late teenagers more than young folks. Some of the topics it handles, like awkwardness and self-reclusion are recursive in many animes, but this goes deeper in the character and presents them raw, with lots of contexts and emotional meaning.

    The ...

Fantastic shogi-themed anime, very well done.
March comes in like a Lion is, like all the other reviews both positive and negative, undeniably unique. It floats a shogi-themed version of the otherwise saturated TEEN ANGST POWER FANTASY LINKIN PARK BYAAAAAAA crap we see so often. Instead of tropey nonsense they juxtapose characters representing important emotions necessary for a melancholy professional teenage shogi player. My only gripe is ...
