The Nedians used that power to turn back time in the area around Expel, restoring it to just before it was destroyed, though it's unclear if Ronixis's ship was spared.

That IS the ending, though they didn't have a movie for it in Second Star Story version. Nede sacrificed itself by changing the direction of the Crest of Annihilation onto Nede itself, and was destroyed.
