Speculation on this 30 mins version...
Warning: After watching more than half of this show, it gets rather dry especially if you are not yet a fan of the film length version yet. The plot gets confusing and jumbled up but without the breathtaking kick like the movie gives. If you are interested in this awesome sequel-ish to Char's Counterattack, I highly recommend just watching the hour long films instead as it flows better and it is ...

    Just barely holds your attention.
I am reviewing this at episode 18.5. .5 because I once again felt the need to walk away from this mid show.

This is a weird show in some ways. It wins, for instance the award for "Most boring epic fight scenes". You will literally find your mind wandering while stuff is blowing up. As a fan of shows that blow stuff up, I dont expect to have that reaction.

I watched the original, and ...

    Unicorn Back and Edited
So without giving away any key plot points or anything, let me get started. Now, anyone who watched the first run of Gundam Unicorn already knows exactly how this plays out (unless they add content and/or change the ending). Comparing footage between this and the original, the real difference is the editing out of all the fluff dialog and scenes. Those who prefer slower pacing in their anime might ...

A needless and mispackaged re-cut of Gundam's most difficult sell
Gundam Unicorn RE:0096 is just one of those marketing moves I don't understand. Why precisely did Sunrise et. al. decide to repackage the 7 OVA Films of Gundam Unicorn into an anime series? Especially when they make some seriously bizarre choices for episode cuts? Well search me, I haven't got a glimmer.

For those new to the party Gundam Unicorn was an OVA Film series released between 2010 and ...

Some meat in the original is left out
There's a steady pace, which makes the show not boring to watch. The level of detail in character development and arts makes re-watching it not a pain but something a fan can juice. However, possibly due to the inappropriateness of certain setting in the original to air on TV, some interesting meat is left out. Such content is usually the darker side of the story. Without it, the naive side of the ...

    Impressive story, less cuts
I could have done with a rough cut of just a straight playthrough instead of the episodic release. Since this was adapated from a movie im alittle peeved that they had it leaving out at certain points when it would have been much easier to leave in at the same level. The naration at the begininning of each episode was annoying as hell, one of them was at least 4 minutes long and not including the ...

  • great gundam series for 2016
i say that this is a great gundam series from 2016 is that we are coming from blood born gundam and is was a return to more social conscience gundams not what i would call take my money ones so the themes expressed here while very good it seemed to lack the power backing it. the series always looked back but never really went forward with the story line. the cliffhangers seemed boring at times and ...

  • Halfway through, so far so good
I was actually really surprised by MSG UC. I was drawn in because I saw the OP, and the animation looked cool and the music was great. I wasn't expecting much though, having recently tried to watch Aldnoah Zero, and having to turn that off after 15 minutes due to cliché-induced headache and cringe.

UC handles it's cliches well though, and while it's yet another story about a young man/boy drawn ...

  • Unicorn is 100% pure Gundam and I love it (early impression)
Gunadm Unicorn re:0096 is probably one of the most "Gundam-ism" Gundam series I've seen in a while. If you've got any familiarity with Gundam tropes at all, you'll find loads of them scattered all over the place for better or for worse. Political ramblings about foreign relations show up often, the mechs are completely awesome and do plenty of cool things. There's a heavy handed 'war is bad' ...

  • Definitely worth a watch for fans of Gundam.
The show is definitely worth a watch if you are a fan of previous entries in the universe. The art is great and the action entertaining. I honestly wouldn't recommend starting on this one though as it wont make any sense at all to you without previous knowledge. Personally I gave it 4 stars as I'm not a fan of the whole Romeo and Juliet trope. Believe me the male MC is definitely on the same ...
