At least the Federation here learned from the Federation on Star Trek; when White Base is damaged, every console on the bridge doesn't explode with fireworks for no reason. Also they don't suffer core meltdowns on a daily basis.

Also making the Colonies round lets them rotate to simulate gravity, so the people on the colonies don't easily notice they're in space.

The inefficiency of the Zenon space habitats is laughable. 99% of the interior volume is empty space.

I'll agree with you on that score. Too many people nowadays rely on some so-called higher authority to look after them and the more wide-spread its power the more they look to it without realizing they're giving up their freedom in return.
