Hadn't it been to the local tv channel that airs doramas on the afternoon, I would have never caught this little gem of a series! I watched it online in three days and every ending was a cliffhanger so strong I couldn't stop clicking "next episode" and staying up late just to watch...
"My Wife is a Superwoman", or "Queen of Housewives", follows the story of several couples and their interactions as employees and employees' wives of Queens Food Company. Ji-ae and Bong Soon used to be "frienemies" at school; the first one was beautiful, arrogant and every boy's dream. Bong Soon was the ugly girl everyone picked on and wanted to be liked by Ji Ae. After several years they meet again to see how things changed. Ji Ae lives a middle class life and is happily married to the naive and good-doer Dal Su, while Bong Soon has become rich and beautiful and is married to Joon Hyuk, who used to be Ji Ae's boyfriend. When Dal Su starts working at Queens Food(where Joon Hyuk is a manager), things starts to get out of control for them, specially after Ji Ae meets the company's president(who passes as a lazy bum in a rich family) after he crashes her car, and he eventually falls for her. Dal Su also gets involved with the president's wife, So-hyung, who is beautiful and classy but feels very lonely because of her failed marriage and general uninterest from her family towards her, but it never goes beyond a friendship. Along them we also see the relations between the Ladies association, which is a club made by the employees' wives and it shows how they gossip and create drama with one single purpose: to protect their husbands at work.
What makes this drama good is that even though the main characters are Ji Ae and Dal Su and their own relationship, we can see every others' relations and how they intertwine with each other and how they change, for better or for worse. It also has some great comedic value, specially between "Tae Bongo" and Ji Ae, which are funny and adorable when arguing! In general, even as a dramatic story, it is light hearted and very easy to relate. All characters are likable even at their worst.
Acting is excellent by everyone, but I confess I am thrilled to see more dramas with Sang Hyun Yoon, his character as Tae Bong, the arrogant playboy with a cute and boyish charm, got me right away! The pace in the series is so well developed to a point that is hard to lose interest in whatever is happening.
Overall this is a very, very enjoyable dorama, it's fun and not too overly dramatic, and the ending will leave you smiling. Highly recommended!!
