    Of Daemons, And Man.
Natsume Yujincho, or, Natsume's Book of Friends, is a beautiful thing amongst the common monotony of recent animation endeavors that come to mind, and has a brilliantly simple shine.

To elaborate, there are no overly wrought character relations with constant flashbacks or pseudo-quasi-heavy dialog, no excessively grand plots that are dragged out to the point of tedium, and somehow a distinctive ...

    An anime that stands out
Natsume Yujincho centers around Natsume and his evolving relationship with the youkais and humans around him. It is relaxing and heart-warming, something that you would love to watch after a tiresome day. The show has a lot of depth, and it differs from other youkai stories by having the youkai experience the same emotions as a human.

Except for the ability to see youkai, Natsume is normal. He ...

  • Interesting, Fun, Deep, Emotional
I really enjoyed this anime. I loved the story. It was different from anything else I had seen up until that point and therefore it really held my attention. The development of the characters is interesting too as it takes its time to tell the story and open you up to the world created. I highly recommend this anime. Give it a try you will enjoy it.

  • really great drama with some comedy mixed in.
I have been reccomending the two seasons of this show to anyone that really liked the mush shi anime, mostly due to the fact that they are both really close in terms of the feel of the story, both share a common issue and they both share the same pace and emotional mood ( with this show having more comedy than mushi shi )
Overall I really liked this one, I flew threw both seasons and still wanted ...

  • Moving and Sweet Anime
I've thoroughly enjoyed this Anime, and most episodes have brought a tear to my eye. I love stories about youkai, spirits, Shinto, etc... because we're so very starved for such things in North America. Our culture scoffs at anything "folklore" related and shows about our spirit heritage are few and far between.

This is a story about loneliness, friendship, compassion, prejudice, and love, in ...

  • Surprised At How Great This Is!
After reading the description of the show, I figured I might like to watch an episode here or there. However on a day when I didn't have class, I binge-watched the first two seasons. After doing a little checking I discovered that Natsume Yujin-cho is the first 3 seasons of the series and Crunchyroll has the fourth season titled Natsume Yujin-cho Shi. Probably become Shi is 4 in Japanese. I don't ...

  • A laid back, yet intriguing supernatural anime
This anime seems almost cliche at first. A high school boy who can see spirits. We've all seen that before. It goes way beyond just that. He meets his future "partner in crime" Madara aka Nyanko sensei and the pair's conflicting personalities bounce off each other in such a way that it is amusing without being annoying. We also get to meet and learn more about these spirits, not just that they are ...

  • A good breather from endless intense animes.
This series has all the elements you would expect an action series to have, but somehow it doesn't have an action-series feel. The premise is a boy with superhuman abilities in a world filled with monsters, most of which are out to hurt him. Action-story, right? While it's true there is some action, the "climate" of the series is very gentle and feel-good, you feel satisfied when each episode is ...

  • Reality And Fantasy Coexisting.
A beautiful anime; guaranteed to be enjoyed by one and all.

The world of Natsume perfectly brings together the natural world problems of young adults into a fantasy world of ghosts known as Yōkai.
Following a young man depicted with having serious social problems because of past events linked with these Yōkai is an emotional journey; but Natsume Yujin-cho still manages to take a step out of ...

  • Natsume Yujin-cho was just what I needed
I've been out of the habit of watching anime for a little while, and I needed something to get me back in. This was it!

Natsume, who can see youkai, was a great character to lead me back into the world of anime and I like that he has this equal love for youkai and humans, and it just teaches us to love all creatures (even though sometimes we wish they werent real, hehe). Anyways, plot was ...
