    Beautiful and Bittersweet
As I watched this very beautifully animated series, I found myself continually describing it as bittersweet. The stories of the youkai tug at your heart, and illustrate the struggle of humans and spirits to make connections and find their way.

Interestingly, the structure of the series is episodic, unusual for anime, but each episode gives you a new, touching story as Natsume meets and deals ...

    Nya - nya! Nyanko-sensei!
Overall positive vibe. I have not 1 bad thing to say about this show. It is a moving story, filled with fun and creepy characters. I like the story line, I can't wait to watch the next season! I especially like Nyanko-sensei!

    A beautiful and touching anime
On one hand, this is a blend of horror and adventure as Natsume Takashi deals with the spirits and monsters only he can see.

At its heart, though, this is the story about a lost boy learning to find his place in the world.

    Natsume Yujin-Cho is a Must-Watch Anime
Natsume Yujin-cho has to be one of the best shounen animes out there. The artwork is very well done and unique. It has it's own style that you won't find in too many animes. The art sometimes reminds you of ancient Japanese art. There are a variety of character designs that you won't find in any other anime. The characters are also well done. They all have their own distinct personalities. The ...

One of my favorite animes ever.
This anime... what can I really say? It's downright amazing. The storyline is great (while it can be slightly confusing at some times), the characters are well drawn and developed, and it sets a lot of moods for the viewer.
The story follows Natsume Takashi, who has seen youkai- Japanese spirits- ever since he was a child. After running away from a youkai that, for some reason, is calling him ...

Relaxing and fun show to watch
Natsume is a nice anime to kick back and relax to as you watch. From the pastoral country settings to the main characters themselves, everything just give off the impression of being relaxed. Please do not confuse this with boring. The characters are very likeable and sympathetic. The main plot of the series is less important in the long run as it is just a device for the show and the viewer ...

One of the most pleasant Animes i've ever had the privilege of watching.
I remember seeing this anime in the lineup of popular animes when I first joined this site, yet I overlooked it and moved on. Only recently did I discover Natsume Yujin-cho 5.. Freakin'.. 5 my dudes and dudettes. This prompted me to look up "Natsume Yujin-cho" in the search bar, because I watched the first one or two episodes of the 5th season and adored it so I just had to ...

    Beautifully masterful
This series, while the animation is gorgeous and the soundtrack pulls you in and allows you to remember it for years to come hits all the points of an amazing anime to me. The story is beautiful and really helps describe the feeling people get when they are truly alone and how to overcome it. The story is brilliant and emotional while the characters grow greatly throughout the series but none more ...

A definite gem worth your time.
On it's surface, this slice of life seems nothing but serene, but with superb character progression and continuously forming relationships, Natsume Yuujinchou presents the hard path one is forced to take to respect two opposing worlds. Much in the spirit of Mushishi, Takashi has a progressing intimacy and bond with creatures that few can see, and others may despise. It's heartwarming and ...
