  • Light-hearted. touching, and very well developed characters.
As a person who usually (is forced to) watch dark and serious concepts, a show such as this is a great breath of fresh air! I cannot even begin to describe how meaningful this anime is, despite the simple looking exterior the anime gave off when we first were scrolling through crunchyroll trying to find something to satisfy our boredom, and I can definitely say, it filled more than my boredom. The ...

  • A beautiful and original anime
This story is by far one of the most fantastic and beautiful anime that I've seen. The characters are original and the way they all evolve as the story goes is both realistic and gives us an insight on all protagonists. I would recommend to all people who really want to have a glimpse of how Japan's countryside looks like. It is truly realistic.

  • Unlike Anything Else I've Ever Seen
This was so different from anything I had ever seen. Each of the yokai are really different and creepy! This captured me from the moment I started! The main characters are so wonderful, and it was made my heart melting see how caring all the friends and family were to Natsume. A really good anime to get into, not to mention such beautiful and whimsical animation. (A favorite of mine)

One of the most pleasant Animes i've ever had the privilege of watching.
I remember seeing this anime in the lineup of popular animes when I first joined this site, yet I overlooked it and moved on. Only recently did I discover Natsume Yujin-cho 5.. Freakin'.. 5 my dudes and dudettes. This prompted me to look up "Natsume Yujin-cho" in the search bar, because I watched the first one or two episodes of the 5th season and adored it so I just had to ...

  • This is a really good show
Natsume Yujin-cho has one of my favorite opening and endings. They fit the show perfectly. I could listen to them all day.
Natsume life changes once he moves and he discovers the meaning behind the book of friends. He meets lots of different people and youkai. It is thanks to them that he is able to really change and become a happier person.
I like how the show doesn't just show him with the ...

  • Watched for the youkai, stayed for Natsume!
I often find anime about youkai because I find them interesting. I don't always love the story or main character. However, I fell in love with Natsume. The artwork is stunning in this anime. It has an old vintage vibe to it, while staying current and fresh. I love all the various personalities of the youkai, and the interactions between them. I like how you can understand the feelings of Natsume ...

  • You'll laugh and cry!
For the few negative comments complaining of a lack of action, I really don't recall seeing this in the Action/Adventure genre....so I'm a bit confused. As for the genres that actually apply to this show, Natsume and friends fit them to a T. I was captivated and enjoyed the gradual reveal of Natsume's life and how things have gotten better for him. Laughter and tears abound with this one.

  • Heartwarming and Uplifting!
I didn’t know what to expect from this show. A slice-of-life, from my understanding, usually has relatable characters and focuses on themes that most people deal with on a day-to-day basis. This is exactly Natsume but with a paranormal twist.

This is about a boy who has lost his parents at a very young age and is thrust into a world that doesn’t understand his pain and is mostly mocked for it. ...

  • A Must Watch Touching and Unique Anime
Honestly, I only started watching this anime because of the cat character that I saw it had but as I kept watching I grew to love this anime more and more. It has great character development, unique characters, great story line, adorableness, and gives you a good laugh once in a while.

This is the most touching, calming, and tear jerking anime I have ever watched. The creator's take on "youkai" ...

  • Continues to pull on all of my heartstrings.
This Anime remains my favorite of the numerous shows I've watched on here. It resonated really well with feelings I've felt myself on numerous occasions. It makes you feel happy and sad all at once and throws in a few laughs here and there.

I think I could relate to Natsume (and many of the spirits his grandmother never revisited), because I've always been a bit of a loner as well, but I still ...
