Natsume Yujin-cho - Season 1
One of the best written series I have seen to date. Small but excellent cast of characters. The ending song just gets to your heart and takes the emotional level on each episode just that much further. The unique stories on each episode leaves the viewer speechless due to the emotional way that they are told. This first season was a personal favorite.

Same as above, but with an even better Opening and Powerful Ending sequences. New characters and more character development. Warms anybody's heart. Masterpiece for accomplishing, at its best, what they are trying to deliver.

Natsume Yujin-cho - Season 3
Masterpiece again without a doubt. Natsume keeps getting up in my favorites characters list. There just isn't many lead characters as pure as him. In this season we got to see more of his past, which helps share the pain when he was a kid. The writing of this series is one of the bests I have ever seen, and the musical score just tears your heart apart. Better little stories in this season too.

I'm glad I watched the credits all the way to the end to see that this series has a second season. I really enjoyed the first season, such a great show. I was really drawn in by the fact that Kazuhiko Inoue finally is playing a different character in an anime besides Kakashi. The versatility he showed playing Madara was probably my favorite part of the show.

The cast is great and all of the youkai that Takashi befriends are loveable as well. The show just gives you a warm feeling watching it and I'm glad I stumbled upon this show!

Idea
You will be following Takashi Natsume in his quest to return all the names of all Yokai (Spirits) that his grandmother has acquired and written in the Book of Friends. (In this world, you can summon a spirit if you know its name.) Note: Spirits will never give their name without a good reason.

Strength
Natsume's Book of Friends' strength comes from Natsume himself. He is a well thought out of a character that is believable in every way. He is a normal kid who was misfortunate enough to have the ability to see spirits (Note: In this world, normal people can't see spirits).

Sounds like a comedic scenario but it isn't.

Natsume's Book of Friends's approach to the situation is as realistic as it can get. Afterall, it is slice of life. If you think about it, reacting to something that people can't see can lead to awkward moments that can easily label you as "weird" along your life. That's sums up Natsume for you.

Natsume's life is lonely and sad. He has no friends. He tries his best to be normal by ignoring all the spirits but there is always times when he couldn't. He has developed a hate to all of them. Who wouldn't? It is hard to live a normal life when there is a spirit chasing you. However, the story begins on the positive side—when he finally decided to meet his fears head on.

That's what makes Natsume's Book of Friends interesting and meaningful. You get to follow Natsume in his task to do the exact opposite of what he has been doing all his life.

Weakness
There is a question that will be on your mind for four seasons of Natsume Book of Friends that will not be answered. I assume, for a very good reason. That question will likely be about his spirit companion Nyanko Sensei (Madara.) There isn't much information about him and his past despite his status as one of the main characters. One thing is guaranteed for now, you will be watching four seasons of Natsume Book of Friend's and will still have basic information about him. However, probably for a good reason.

Who is it for?
If slice of life genre bores you. Move on. This isn't for you. Natsume isn't comedy that will cause pain on your stomach nor drama that will make you cry like a baby. It isn't kinetic like a martial art anime nor badass like an anime with a kick-ass protagonist. Natsume's Book of Friends is more like you sitting under a cherry blossom staring at the blue sky. There is this peaceful feeling about it that you'll want to experience again and again.

Each episode gives you a glimpse of his past while still presenting an intriguing current story. The atmosphere and tempo of the series provides the audience with a sense of melancholy or nostalgia and yet remains positive and hopeful. I rarely collect animes but I'll likely get this one on Amazon.

It's like Mushi-shi meets Ghost Hunt, with a touch of Angel Beats. I wish other animes are as well thought-out. Looking forward to other works by the author.

I became hooked after watching just the first episode. The story immediately pulls you in and won't let you go. Each episode was very heartwarming and the characters are enjoyable.

The animation is beautiful to watch and the plot is interesting. If you're into the whole "yokai" thing, then this is the anime for you. There isn't any romance, so people looking for a romance won't find it in here. There are countless funny and cute scenes which will make anyone fall in love with this anime.

I loved it:)
it has a nice flow to it, and a good story continuing through each ep.
it has a calm feeling to it, even though its about his struggles and fears, a bit about his troubles trough his younger days, with having to move from one relative to another, all the time.
In the end, he must just accepting who he is, and all the beings that is in his life, and have trust in people again.
it`s lovely made hope there is more, its funny,its sad, and its scary and surprising, its a bit hard to describe.... LOL, you just have to see it:)

there is nothing that really made me wanting to keep watching it but for some reason i had to. Its one of them anime you just enjoy not violent with tons of huge fighting scenes just enjoyable to watch. I would advise anyone who wants to get away from these really dramatic animes to watch this, its got a calmness too it which i think many people would enjoy.
The comedy in it is good in my opinion by the end of it most people love nyanko sensie who is one of the most funniest characters i have found in an anime.

Overall i would advise people to watch it its just something i believe most people will enjoy.

If you ever felt like an outcast, loner, outsider, weird, or insignificant, this anime is great for you because the main character has the same struggles. I really love how you can relate to the characters whether they are human or youkai. Watching each episode is like drinking a sip of hot chocolate on a cold day. Each sip is warm, sweet, and filling. However, you may cry bit because it also has moments of poignancy. Leaving you feeling fuzzy on inside at the end of each episodes.

Music: assortment of styles but really fitting and has a beautiful ost in the second season
Humor: great

It is on my top five anime list! I would recommend you start watching the first three episodes before deciding to leave it
