Fate/stay night fans will undoubtedly remember the white dress that Saber wound up wearing in her encounter with Caster. It also factors prominently in Takashi Takeuchi's box art for the second Blu-ray set of the Unlimited Blade Works anime. And, now, it's getting the 3D treatment from Bellfine. This 20cm, 1/8 scale figure sculpted by i-con (Aiiro Sorairo) and painted by Emi Hoshina is on sale now for 15,120 yen ahead of a December release.
New anime gets a historical look this weekend for the Kyoto International Manga Anime Fair 2016. Fitting with the famously traditional city, Aniplex is featuring their characters in classic kimonos for event promo material and merchandise. On the Fate/stay night front, the Saber and Rin Unlimited Blade Works pieces will be brought back and joined by a new Sakura Matou Heaven's Feel piece, featured on life-sized displays and sold on tapestries, clear files, and keychains.
Sir Ian McKellen the award-winning actor known for both his classic and his genre work, has been interviewed by Bilibili, a Chinese video sharing site focused on anime and games. He discussed Shakespeare, X-Men, including the Xavier x Magneto yaoi implications, recent sitcom Vicious, and capped it all off by reading the Unlimited Blade Works incantation from Fate/stay night. When you never stop spinning remakes and remixes of TYPE-MOON's battle of legends for the Holy Grail, you're eventually going to land on the crew sitting down for a game of mahjong, as happened last year with the Twi4 (as in Twitter four-panel) launch of syatey's web manga Fate/Mahjong Night - Seihai Sensou. A first collection of this gambling comedy is out on May 11th, and syatey has illustrated a series of bonus art for Japanese bookstores.
The Machi*Asobi event in anime studio ufotable's Tokushima backyard famously takes place on the water with Hyoutan river dock-side talks by the creators and stars and board tours of giant banners hung under the local bridges. One of the many Fate/stay night cosplayers at this Golden Week edition went next-level as an intrepid Cú Chulainn Lancer pressed his luck, taking to the water on a paddleboard. This year, there was a malfunction in the Chaldea Gate that saw Type-Moon's site, as well as all the servants in smart phone RPG Fate/Grand Order scrambled in the style of irreverent manga artist Riyo (author of very real tutorial manga). It's been the better part of a year since Comp Ace's irregularly published TYPE-MOON spinoff has offered an update on plans for the long-anticipated remake of vampire visual novel Tsukihime.
