A number of big, Japanese anime events are coming up at the end of the month/opening of May in time for the Golden Week block of holidays, including Character1 at Tokyo Big Sight and Machi Asobi in Tokushima. Anime studio ufotable is getting ready for these and, implicitly, the upcoming Fate/stay night[Heaven's Feel] anime movie trilogy with a special, event b0 bath towel. Get a look after the jump.
Fate series creator Type-Moon is known for their elaborate April Fool's jokes. This year, there was a malfunction in the Chaldea Gate that saw Type-Moon's site, as well as all the servants in smart phone RPG Fate/Grand Order scrambled in the style of irreverent manga artist Riyo (author of very real tutorial manga). It's been the better part of a year since Comp Ace's irregularly published TYPE-MOON spinoff has offered an update on plans for the long-anticipated remake of vampire visual novel Tsukihime. Well, there's an 11th edition out April 15th, and a preview of its contents is promising news about the project. More after the jump.
At this weekend's Anime Japan, anime studio ufotable presented their latest update on the theatrical anime adaptation of visual Fate/stay night's "Heaven's Feel" route, in which Sakura Matō is the heroine. The big news on the projects is that it is now being planned as a trilogy of anime movies launching in 2017 with Tomonori Sudou, animation director/character designer of ufotable's Unlimited Blade Works TV anime, as director.
White Day might have come and gone, but Fate is still celebrating with bishonen. First, Avenger Edmond Dantes, better known as The Count of Monte Cristo has made his appearance in smartphone game Fate/Grand Order. Elsewhere the Ufotable White Day promotion, running through the 21st, has added its delayed fifth to the 5 Hottest Men of Fate with Fate/Zero's Diarmuid Ua Duibhne Lancer joining Fate/Zero Archer, Gilgamesh, Kayneth El-Melloi Archibald, and Tokiomi Tohsaka.
Preparing for its March 23rd release, a promo has been posted for Fate/stay night: Garden of Avalon - glorious,after image, a drama CD and OST two disc collection based on the novel that series co-creator Kinoko Nasu wrote for last March's first Unlimited Blade Works set, with music by Hideyuki Fukasawa by music and art Type-Moon co-founder Takeuchi Takashi. Because its Girls' Day in Japan as well as the whole 3.3 palindrome thing, March 3rd is one of those dates that is over-represented in anime birthdays. Macross' Misa, Yowapeda's Juichi Fukutomi, Hunter X Hunter's Leorio, Final Fantasy VIII's Rinoa Heartilly, and Magic Knight Rayearth's Umi Ryuuzaki to name a few. And, plenty of artists have taken to social media to celebrate the birthdays of their creations or favorites.
Back during promotion for the Fate/Zero anime, fans were asked what other classes they'd like to see Artoria summoned as. Master won, followed by Rider, Berserker and Lancer. Type-Moon co-founder Takashi Takeuchi followed up on this suggestion with art of the character in school uniform with a katana and a Command Spell. That has now inspired a 1/7 scale figure from Alter.
Last February, Good Smile Company previewed their prototype for a figure adapting an illustration of Saber Alter from Fate/stay night follow-up Fate/hollow ataraxia by Ryohei "Huke" Fuke (Metal Gear Solid, Black Rock Shooter, Steins;Gate). This February she's ready as orders open for Wonderful Hobby Selection page goes black for the launch of pre-orders for the Saber Alter: huke Collaboration Package.
