In additional to finally wrapping up Blade of the Immortal in volume 30, author Hiroaki Samura's has produced some one shots, the two volume, surreal Halcyon Lunch and the violent, women's revenge series Beageruta–. The 2011 manga is running in the quarterly magazine Nemesis, so a collection has been a long time coming. Well, timed to coincide BOI volume 30, volume 1 of Beageruta– was released this weekend. Shukakusai is a harvest festival something like Thanksgiving, and seinen anthology Afternoon is marking it with big plans coinciding with its 25th anniversary in their Dai Shukakusai 2012 campaign. In 2001, Blade of the Immortal author Hiroaki Samura told Quick Japan, "Originally I said, 'I'll end it at 5 volumes.' Now that I've already done 12 I don't really know, but it's true that I want to finish it within the next 3 years." Publisher Dark Horse has announced solicitations for December comic releases and January graphic novels. Manga for that period includes the long awaited new short story collection from Blade of the Immortal author Hiroaki Samura, a collection of Evangelion tribute manga, and the second Trigun omnibus. This weekend, attendees at the Wonder Festival character figure event had a chance to pick up their own Manji from very limited run of 30 cm Real Action Hero replicas of Blade of the Immortal's titular swordsman. Armed with a dozen weapons from his katana to his bladed pipe, Medicom Toy'spremium figure features a wire framed kimono, suitable for concealing those various implements of violence.
