It is confirmed today that the upcoming live-action film adaptation of Hiroaki Samura's Mugen no Junin/Blade of the Immortal manga is officially set for a release in the Golden Week holiday period of 2017. Shipping with the seinen weekly's 2016 issue 10 on February 8th, "Ikusa Tsutae" explores the life of a genius swordsman at war.
Hiroaki Samura's revisionist period epic manga Blade of the Immortal wrapped up, so it's time for the adaptations! In addition to Takashi Miike's live-action movie, starring Kimutaku, planned for 2017, a stage play runs at Tokyo's Space Zero (Zenrousai Hal) February 11-17, with tickets now on sale at Lawson. Takashi Miike, the prolific and shocking director whose reputation exploded internationally with the adaptation of manga Ichi the Killer, also attached to adaptations of manga Salaryman Kintaro, MPD Psycho, Crows Zero, Mogura no Uta, Kami-sama no Iu Toori,and recent Tachibana and Yū Sasuga's violent sci-fi TerraFormars, now has another big manga project on his slate: Hiroaki Samura's Blade of the Immortal.
