With Blade Runner 2049 set to open this fall, a "Blade Runner Blackout 2022" anime short tie-in has been announced. Cowboy Bebop director Shinichiro Watanabe helms the work about a mass power-outage on the American west coast, disrupting food supplies and prompting a ban on Replicant manufacturing.
It's fair to say that fans of the classic sci-fi 1982 film Blade Runner greeted the recent news of a sequel with plenty of trepidation. It might alleviate some of that to know that the original movie's director Ridley Scott (Alien, Gladiator) is saying that he'll be involved with the project. More after the jump.
