After claiming a record for largest inaugural year of a comic con in North America with around 70,000 attendees in 2013, Utah's Salt Lake Comic Con is aiming higher in 2015 with the ambition of grabbing the Guinness World Record for largest gathering of people dressed as comic book characters. The current record involved 1,530 participants and was achieved at the opening ceremony of the International Animation CCJOY LAND in China, on April 29th, 2011.
Partially in response to omitting the credits from the print versions of the comics, Marvel has posted a gallery of August's variant manga artist covers. Maidigitv hit the the scene at Tokyo Big Sight last weekend to check out the cosplay on display at Japan's biggest doujinshi event. The Mainichi Shimbun affiliate notes that, along with a larger exhibiting area, rules for the cosplayers (arrive and depart in plain clothes, cosplay only in designated area, pay 800yen registration fee) and observers (request permission before photographing, no angle shots) have been enhanced.
