In recent Comikets, people like builder and rugby player Kuro Mario and bodybuilder Taichi Shimizu have thrilled vistiors with their extreme muscle cosplay. Nitro+ music mascot Super Sonco recently turned 10 years old, and maybe she's starting to show her age (in the accelerated pop culture years). This weekend, at the Wonder Festival figure event (for the occasion, they figure that Sonico has inspired 138 figure releases), Super Sonico was cosplayed by "celebrity" Mika Kano, who posed as the character with a Lexus LC hybrid car itasha.
The familiar narrative is that a celebrity attends Comic Con in cosplay, usually masked, so that they can enjoy the event with a degree of anonymity. In contrast, this year, a couple notables flew their otaku flags proudly. Mike Daniels, a defensive end for the NFL's Green Bay Packers football team made an impressive Raikage. Meanwhile, Ezra Miller, the Flash in the DC Comics-based movies, showed up to the event and Justice League panel as Ed Elric.
