The Shotaro Ishinomori Mangattan Museum, honoring the work of the pioneering manga/anime/tokusatsu creator, was built with corporation of national government and Ishimaki City in 2001 and became a tourist destination, attracting 180,000 visitors annually. During the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami, many of the building around the museum were destroyed and its facilities were substantially damaged. Reopening Planned For Tsunami Affected Ishinomori Manga Museum
Museum attracted over 180,000 visitors annually before being damaged by March, 2011 earthquake and tsunami
In 2008, Shotaro Ishinomori was posthumously awarded him the Guinness World Record for most comics/manga published by one author for a body of work over 128,000 pages, which included the creation of seminal superpowered team Cyborg 009. His towering influence also helped define the tokusatsu live action genre. November 17th, the museum in his honor will be holding a reopening ceremony. More after the jump.

PH9 has posted a new promo for this fall's 009 Re: Cyborg, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex writer/director Kenji Kamiyama's update of the classic fujitive robot sci-fi thriller Cyborg 009. Evangelion and Cyborg 009 Charity New Year's Card Service Begins
For the disaster areas of the Great East Japan Earthquake
"Nengajo" is Japanese New Year's Card. "Yahoo! Japan Nengajo", a web service run by HAKUHODO i-studio and Yahoo! Japan, has started selling "Charity Nengajo" featuring Japanese celebrities and popular anime characters, including Evangelion and Cyborg 009. A part of the profit will be donated to the disaster areas of the 3.11 Great East Japan Earthquake via Japan Red Cross in March 2012. Check the designs after the jump.
