TSUTAYA, the largest DVD/BD and CD rental shop chain in Japan, announced the annual rental rankings for each category for the 11 months from January 1st to December 7th, 2012. The International Animated Film Society has announced their nominations for the 40th Annual Annie Awards, recognizing the year’s best in the field of animation. Hayao Miyazaki, Keiko Niwa and Karey Kirkpatric got a Best Writing in an Animated Feature Production nod for their work on Studio Ghibli's From Up on Poppy Hill, while The Legend of Korra picked up two nominations. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the list of 21 animated movie submitted to be considered for a Best Animated Film Oscar.
