Japanese newspaper The Asahi Shimbun announced the winner of its annual Osamu Tezuka Cultural Prize. Top prize for 2011 works went to volume 7 of Hitoshi Iwaaki's (Parasyte) Historie, the life story of Alexander the Great's confidant Eumenes of Cardia. More after the jump.
Japanese newspaper The Asahi Shimbun has announced the 2011 manga works nominated for its annual Osamu Tezuka Cultural Prize. Asahi Shimbun describes the award as "honoring the late Osamu Tezuka, an artist who left an indelible mark on the nation's manga culture." It has been awarded annually since 1997. The limited edition of volume seven of Historie, Hitoshi Iwaaki's (Parasyte) fictionalized biography of Alexander the Great's general, Eumenes of Cardia, will be packaged with an interesting bonus item, suitable to the award-winning manga's strategist subject: a rule book and a set of "rock" playing pieces for Macedonian Chess.
