To commemorate Yakuza 5's release for PlayStation3 December 6th in Japan, Dining Darts Bar Bee has cooked up "the ultimate evolution" of their demi-glace sauce omelet rice as a collaboration menu item. Marketed as "super huge" and "super spicy," does this monster dish deliver? Find out when we scarf it down after the break!
In this installment of Japan Flavor Report, we venture once again into the convenience store steamer case to sample the Chopper-man currently promoting One Piece Film Z at 7-Eleven. Milky? Creamy? Find out after the break!
Burger King Japan came up with a special burger that will "allow you to keenly feel the arrival of the fall and winter seasons, and their hallmarks, Halloween and Christmas." After the break we experience "King's Harvest Time" in all its fall sweetness, and also take the plunge on the "Black Burger" that has been lurking around since the end of September.
To veteran Gundam fans' delight and/or horror, mascot mecha Haro has been turned into a pork bun (aka nikuman). The appropriately green "Haro-man" went on sale yesterday at Gundam Café, so Emily swung by Akihabara for a bite. Read on for impressions of this fresh creation plus some old guard menu items!
The Japan Flavor Report might as well be called a Color Report this time around. Feeling blue? So is this curry! Maybe it will cure what ails you...or give you super powers like Alex Mack. This time on Japan Flavor Report, we're forcing ourselves to drink Kimchi Ramune so you don't have to! RPG fans may also want to bump this jump, though, as we introduce developer Experience Inc. in addition to relating taste bud terrors.
"Eno! Shima! Bowl!" Starting May 1st, the noitaminA Shop & Cafe in Daiba's Aqua City mall built a Duck Curry joint just like in Tsuritama. We've got pix and impressions of both the Tsuritama and Kids on the Slope food items, plus the scoop on how to become a member of the DUCK organization, after the break. As the seasons change, so do the menus of the world's Starbucks, but this time in Japan they changed in a way that piqued my interest. PUDDING? Yes, pudding, resting in the bottom of your Frappuccino cup under a cream-based chocolate cookie shake. Before we go any further, join me in summoning the beast by its full name after the break!
I ate the face off of a Slime nikuman (meat bun) side by side with the most basic of basic meat buns. Read all about it after the break, with pics!
Bubble tea may have originated in Taiwan, but that does not mean Japan hasn't figured out how to bend its deliciousness to their seasonal tastes. If you weren't already convinced there was no flavor milky tapioca-laden tea couldn't conquer (my usual go-to is taro), then let me take you one step closer by introducing apple cinnamon. Flavor analysis and more, after the jump!
