    Hideaki Anno takes a break from past years' Eva sketches

    Married Evangelion creator Hideaki Anno and manga artist Moyocco Anno have made a bit of a tradition of contributing lanterns to the summer Bonbori Matsuri , held at theTsurugaoka Hachiman-gū shrine in Kamakura. In 2011 and 2012 Mr Anno previewed Evangelion 3.0, while Mrs had some attractive kimono sketches. This year, Hideaki had something different in mind. Get a look after the jump.

    Latest Studio Ghibli movie opens in Japanese theaters July 20th

    The Wind is Rising, the first anime movie directed by Hayao Miyazaki since 2008's Ponyo opens in Japanese theaters July 20th, and to prepare for the debut, the theatrical trailer ran Japanese TV. Get a look after the jump.

  • 21 Studio Ghibli Movies Featured in Mural

    26 theaters host in the 25m x 4m mural

    25 years after they released My Neighbor Totoro and Grave of the Fireflies, Studio Ghibli co-founders Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata are debuting anime movies together with Miyazaki's Kaze Tachinu (The Wind Rises) coming on July 20 and Takahata Isao's Kaguya-hime no Monogatari (The Tale of Princess Kaguya) arriving in the fall. To celebrate this, 26 Japanese theaters are hosting a 25mx4m mural featuring 20 of the studio's films and the pre-Ghibli Nausicaa. Get a look after the jump.

    Latest Studio Ghibli movie opens in Japanese theaters July 20th

    A new TV teaser has offered an early look at The Wind is Rising, the first anime movie directed by Hayao Miyazaki since 2008's Ponyo.  Based on his manga and a novel by Tatsuo Hori, the movie opening in Japanese theaters on July 20th explores the life of World War II Zero fighter designer Jirō Horikoshi's life.
