Wikia is putting together a really cool collaborative writing project that looks to bring fans and writers alike together with some true manga and anime luminaries. The Masters of Animanga: A Wikia Collaborative Writing Project pulls in the talent and guidance of Kazuo Koike, Yoshitaka Amano, Takashi Okazaki, and Sin'Ichi Hiromoto, who will curate fully rendered illustrations and brief character descriptions for the community. Following the recent Anime Expo announcement that they plan to bring the New Lone Wolf and Cub manga to North America, Dark Horse has detailed their schedule for hosting legendary author Kazuo Koike at San Diego Comic Con. Koike will be signing at the Dark Horse booth, #2615, Thursday at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., as well as Friday at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. More after the jump.
Kadokawa Shoten's Ace family of manga anthologies is being joined by new period dedicated magazine Samurai Ace. Some big names in the field are on board, including Lone Wolf and Cub writer Kazuo Koike and Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, animator and manga artist especially known for his character design work on Mobile Suit Gundam. Earlier this week, we had news about the post-production work on a Hollywood adaptation of 47 Ronin. Independently, the story is also being adapted in a comic, written by the President of publisher Dark Horse, Mike Richardson, and illustrated by the renowned Stan Sakai (Usagi Yojimbo), with the legendary Kazuo Koike (Lone Wolf and Cub) advising. Considering the quality of the manga, it shouldn't really be a surprise, but this news warms my heart like no other. Dark Horse editor Michael Gombos recently let Anime News Network know that Lone Wolf and Cub is now the #2 bestseller in Dark Horse's newly launched digital storefront.
