Courts have ruled in favor of a Japanese company against card maker/children's media company Upper Deck, and for a change it wasn't a Konami suit concerning Yu-Gi-Oh! cards. On November 30, 2011, the United States District Court in Nevada entered judgment in favor of Aniplex, Incorporated and against Upper Deck over a breach of contract concerning the anime Kiba. Most tokusatsu (special effects) series feature Japanese superheroes in brightly colored outfits duking it out for dominance of your sunny weekend mornings. Garo—which originally aired for 25 episodes on TV Tokyo from 2005-2006—was different. Decidedly more "adult," the late-night series is soon to see a resurgence in the form of a new video production spin-off: KIBA the Dark Knight Gaiden.
