The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has listed the 19 films submitted for Best Animated Feature Oscar contention. Not all of them have fulfilled the requirement to run in Los Angeles this calendar year yet, and the academy has a history of disqualifying movies that are less than 75% animated, but if 16 are accepted, then there will be 5 nominees for the next award. GKids has confirmed plans to work with Cinedigm on a home video release of Studio Ghibli's From Up on Poppy Hill. The movie is the first of seven new GKIDS titles included under the pact to release critically acclaimed films to North America audiences in theaters, as well as on Blu-ray, DVD and video on demand. Variety is reporting Kadokawa Pictures plans to release Hiroyuki Okiura's A Letter to Momo on 300 screens in next year's spring Golden Week holiday period. For comparison, Ghibli Arrietty the Borrower opened on 447 screens, while One Piece: Strong World opened on 188. More after the jump.
