Kadokawa Shouten’s manga magazine Newtype Ace, launched in 2011 to feature manga tie-ins to anime properties, announced plans to end this month, with most of its series moving it Nico Nico Ace. More after the jump.
Osamu Tezuka's was inspired by musicals, especially the work of the all-female Takarazuka Revue, when making his influential shoujo manga Princess Knight. So, when the Osamu Tezuka Manga Museum in Hyogo Prefecture hosts a ‘MACROSS THE MUSEUM’ exhibit starting June 28th, it makes connection to draw the connection between the alway musical Macross and Princess Knight. On June 3rd, Japanese mobile phone service provided Docomo will begin offering Macross Concier to its smartphone users. For a monthly subscription or pay as you go, you can get a Shabette Kyara digital assistant with the voice of Macross F's idols, "Galactic Fairy" Sheryl Nome or "Super-Dimension Cinderella" Ranka Lee. Bandai has posted a new video looking at their Macross 30th Anniversary VF-1A/S Valkyrie plastic model kit. Do You Remember Love?, 1/72VF-1A/S Valkyrie Hikaru Ichijo Strike Parts sets, supervised by series co-creator Shoji Kawamori, will be released on June 29. Check it out after the jump.
Palladium Book's Kickstarter campaign to crowd-fund strategy battle game Robotech RPG Tactics, based on the localized version of The Super Dimension Fortress Macross, Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross and Genesis Climber MOSPEADA closed on May 20th. It met its goal three hours after its April 18th launch and went on to raise $1,442,312, really proving that Robotech fans are dedicated and/or have a healthy amount of disposable income. In her struggling days as a new idol, Ranka Lee was doing promotion for Star Light Natto (Natto: fermented soybeans, a Japanese delicacy). JOYSOUND, a Japanese Karaoke chain, took the concept a little further and included natto in their Macross Collaboration menu starting on March 15th in Japan. Macross 30: Ginga o Tsunagu Utagoe, brings together past pilots such as Macross' Hikaru Ichijyo, Macross 7's Basara Nekki, Macross Plus' Isamu Dyson, Macross Zero's Shin Kudo and Macross F's Alto Saotome with originals in an anniversary game that hits the Japanese PlayStation 3 on February 28th.
