G4 Closes Out the Marvel/Madhouse Anime Quartet
America's G4 cable network has scheduled a January 13th premiere for Blade, the final of Madhouse's adaptations of Marvel's superheroes. Harold Perrineau (Lost, Oz) voices the title role of the Marv Wolfman/Gene Colan created vampire hunter in a 12 episode series written by Kenta Fukasaku (Battle Royale II) and directed by Mitsuyuki Masuhara (Shigurui: Death Frenzy). Madhouse/Chinese Government Opens in Japan on January 7
Japan's Madhouse anime studio announced that their co-production with the Chinese government, The Tibetan Dog, will open in Japanese theaters for the new year, on January 7, 2012. Baltimore's Otakon (July 29 – 31) will be welcoming back Masao Maruyama, founder of anime studio Madhouse, makers of a lot of popular anime, such as Ninja Scroll, Black Lagoon and most of the CLAMP adaptations, and a lot of boundary pushing anime, such as Paprika, the Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Summer Wars, Kaiba (regrettably, unlicensed), Denno Coil (regrettably, unlicensed), and Kemonozume (regrettably, unlicensed).
