  • Maiden Japan Licenses "New Dominion Tank Police"

    Six episode OVA adapts manga by "Ghost in the Shell" creator Masamune Shirow

    Maiden Japan has announced that their latest sci-fi anime rescue license is New Dominion Tank Police. The six episode adaptation of the manga by Ghost in the Shell creator Masamune Shirow will be available digitally and be distributed by Section 23 on bilingual English DVD. More after the jump.

  • MAIDEN JAPAN ANNOUNCES LICENSE OF MOBILE POLICE PATLABOR TV

    Maiden Japan today announced its acquisition of the legendary series Mobile Police Patlabor TV.  This 47 episode series features direction by Naoyuki Yoshinaga (Maison Ikkoku, Irresponsible Captain Tylor) with character designs by Akemi Takada (Kimagure Orange Road, Urusei Yatsura), mechanical designs by Yoshinori Sayama (RahXephon, Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counter Attack) and Yutaka Izubuchi (Gasaraki, Toward the Terra) and music by Kenji Kawai (Vampire Princesss Miyu, Sorcerer Hunters).

  • MAIDEN JAPAN ANNOUNCES LICENSE OF RUIN EXPLORERS (Fam & Ihrie)

    Maiden Japan today announced its acquisition of Ruin Explorers, a tale of dungeons, dangers and dysfunctional damsels.  This four episode OVA series features direction and screenplay by Takeshi Mori (Gunsmith Cats, Vandread) with character designs by Toshihisa Kaiya and music by Masamichi Amano (Princess Nine, Giant Robo).

  • Maiden Japan Licenses Masamune Shirow's "Black Magic M-66" Anime

    1987 OVA has the distinction of being the only anime "Ghost in the Shell" creator actively worked on

    From Ghost in the Shell to Real Drive, Masamune Shirow's name is on plenty of anime, but the adaptation of his Black Magic M-66 has the distinction of being the only anime that he actively worked on. That 1987 OVA, co-directed by Hiroyuki Kitakubo (Jojo's Bizarre Adventure OVA) has now been rescue licensed by Maiden Japan. More after the jump.

  • Maiden Japan Licenses "Momo, Girl God of Death ~ Ballad of a Shinigami"

    Entire series will be released in bilingual English DVD and digital formats

    Maiden Japan announced its acquisition of the 2006 light novel adaptation OVA series Momo, Girl God of Death ~ Ballad of a Shinigami.  It will be distributed in conjunction with home video distributor Section 23 Films, with the entire series to be released in bilingual English DVD and digital formats.   • Maiden Japan Licenses "Love ♥ Love?" Anime

    Series will be distributed on subtitled DVD and digitally

    Maiden Japan announced its acquisition of the romantic comedy Love ♥ Love?the final story in the "Metamorphosis Trilogy" of series, which featured Cosmopolitan Prayers (Cosplayers), and Smash Hits. The series willl be distributed in conjunction with Section 23, with the entire series to be released on subtitled DVD and in digital formats.   • Maiden Japan Licenses "Patlabor" OVAs

    Classic political police action/comedy to be released in bilingual English DVD, Blu-ray and digital formats

    Maiden Japan has announced its acquisition of the classic political police action-comedy Patlabor.  The original 7 episode OVA series is directed by Mamoru Oshii (Ghost in the Shell). Maiden Japan will be distributing Patlabor in conjunction with home video distributor Section 23 with the original OVA series to be released in bilingual English DVD, Blu-ray and digital formats.   • Maiden Japan Licenses "Tokyo Magnitude 8.0"

    Award winning how to be released on bilingual DVD and Blu-ray in April

    Despite claiming the Excellence Prize in the Animation category at Japan's Media Arts Festival in 2009. parallels to the earthquake of March 2011 cast doubt in many minds that anime drama Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 was going to be licensed. However, Maiden Japan has come through. Distribution partner Section23 will be releasing the entire series on bilingual English DVD, Blu-ray and digital formats on April 2nd 2013.   • Maiden Japan Licenses "Polyphonica Crimson S" Anime

    Maiden Japan, a label specializing in sci-fi/mystery anime distributed on video by Section23, has announced the license of action comedy Polyphonica Crimson S. It will debut digitally in North America soon, with a subtitled DVD release planned for spring. More after the jump.
