Last month we posted about the schedule for STUDIO GHIBLI FEST, and the time has come for another Hayao Miyazaki classic to return to the big screen. This month will end with Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, originally released in 1984 and based on Miyazaki's own manga.
Few manga have been released in North America as many times in as many formats and few have been as deserving. Last released in 2004, VIZ Media is bringing renowned anime director Hayao Miyazaki's longest work of manga back into print on November 6th. The seven volumes of Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind are being collected in two new hardcover editions. More after the jump.
Hayao Miyazaki's ecological epic Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind is back in the news thanks to inspiring the monster in the live-action short for Hideaki Anno's tokusatsu exhibit. While the manga version was last printed in North America in 2004, Viz will be bringing the classic back this fall. More after the jump.
Spinning out of the Hideaki Anno/Studio Ghibli tokusatsu exhibit, figures makers Max Factory, Kaiyodo, and Good Smile will be making a selection of figures based on the exhibit's updated take on the God Warriors from Miyazaki's Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind. Check them out after the jump.
Hayao Miyazaki's Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind showcased themes with which his later Studio Ghibli work would be associated, especially ecology and flight. Its unique aircraft inspired Lego sculptor John Hall to recreate the movie's gunship. Check out his work after the jump.
