Early news out of Annecy International Animation Film Festival is that the booth by Japanese company Genco at the MIFA film market sports a poster for an anime adaptation of Pluto, Naoki Urasawa's mature remake of Osamu Tezuka's Astro Boy classic "The Greatest Robot on Earth." The Eisner nominated manga was released in North America by Viz.

The Japan Animator Expo showcase of shorts from Dwango and Evangelion creator Hideaki Anno's Studio Khara, has announced plans to return for a new short, to screen theatrically for one week starting October 15 at Tokyo's Shinjuku Wald 9 and Osaka's Umeda Burg 7 and be offered on Blu-ray. Rebuild of Evangelion's Studio Khara will be producing this Reboot of Headgear's realistic police mecha series Patlabor.
The Mamoru Oshii Film Festival at the Shin-bungeiza theater in Ikebukuro, Toshima, Tokyo, Japan, is kicking off its 2016 series in April with a live-talk event and screenings of both live-action and animated Patlabor films. Hit the jump to learn more.
