  • Amazon Lists "The Wind Rises," "Kiki's Delivery Service" and "Princess Mononoke" North American Releases

    Releases planned for November 18th

    Amazon has begun listing a November 18th release day for Hayao Miyazaki's final anime movie, The Wind Rises. Walt Disney Home Entertainment presents Studio Ghibli's story of plane designer Jiro Horikoshi is coming to DVD and Blu-ray. Also on that date, they will be releasing Kiki's Delivery Service and Princess Mononoke on Blu-ray.

    VIZ will be adding two book to its Studio Ghibli Library in the fourth quarter of the year

    VIZ Media announced plans to expand their Studio Ghibli Library imprint expansion with two books in the fourth quarter of the year. A Princess Mononoke art book re-release will be joined Hayao Miyazaki's early, 1980 watercolor version of the story. More after the jump.

  • Studio Ghibli Music to be Offered on Limited Vinyl Pressings

    Very limited item offered on July 26th

    Mondo has announced the limited edition vinyl release of Studio Ghibli Kokyo Kyokushu, a compilation of selections from Studio Ghibli films Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, The Cat Returns and My Neighbors The Yamadas, featuring performances from the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. Studio Ghibli Kokyo Kyokushu will be available for on vinyl for the first time on July 26 at mondotees.com. More after the jump.

  • Disney Lists "Princess Mononoke" DVD

    Release has been out of print since 2011

    The North American handling of Studio Ghibli movies has been shifting to GKids, who have been picking up their new titles, like Poppy Hill. Disney however recently revamped their site, relisted their previously released Ghibli movie, and began offering the out of print Princess Mononoke through their Movie Club purchasing program. Studio Ghibli has embraced the production, with a go-ahead from the anime movie's director Hayao Miyazaki and an adapted version of Joe Hisaishi's score.     The Princess MO Executive Committee in association with Whole Hog Theatre have announced that they are presenting a stage production of Princess Mononoke at AiiA Theater Tokyo, from April 29 to May 6, 2013. The production was created by  British theatre company Whole Hog Theatre with Hayao Miyazaki's "go-ahead" and now features an adapted version of Joe Hisaishi's score from the classic Studio Ghibli anime movie.
