Chiho Saito turns 49 on June 29th and celebrates the 35th debut of her debut manga, "Ken to Madomoaseru" (The Sword and the Mademoiselle), this year. You might know the Be-Papas members for her work on Revolutionary Girl Utena, the anime of which turns 20 this year. She's celebrating with a new Utena manga, running in the September issue of josei magazine Flowers.

After notable work on the Sailor Moon anime, Kunihiko Ikuhara made a preeminent mark on magical girl anime with Revolutionary Girl Utena, which debuted on April 2, 1997. Anime inspired fashion brand Super Groupies has been celebrating with offerings that recently included indoor-hoodies, and a new line-up with Utena and Anthy motif bags (11,800yen), wallets (8,800yen) and umbrellas inspired by the two and the rose motif (5,800yen).

Happy 20th anniversary to Revolutionary Girl Utena! While the anime doesn't celebrate until next April, the manga launched in the June 1996 issue of shoujo monthly magazine Ciao. An art show dedicated to the stunning series has been presented at the QPOP gallery, and, if you're in the LA area, try to get there this weekend because the exhibit is, unfortunately, just about scheduled to close.
