In addition to a special digital-only chapter in the form of Vampire Knight: Life and the release of Yukarism vol. 1, both available now, December will see the debut of Mikansei No. 1, Sgt. Suzumiya Haruhi (Aya Hirano) and Sergeant Keroro (Kumiko Watanabe) lend their voices to a promo for the 20th anniversary of Shōnen Ace, a manga magazine known for its anime tie-ins as well as original manga that is often violent like Deadman Wonderland and Future Diary or comedies like My Ordinary Life.
Sgt. Frog author Mine Yoshizaki showed a fondness for playing with the numerical puns associated with his characters. Amphibian invader comedy Sgt Frog returned to anime for the first time in nearly three years this week with a new Sunrise Flash anime directed by Haruki Kasugamori. Cast on the older anime returns, but these are joined by Aoi Yuki as the energetic, curious Shin Keroro, Emiri Kato as Tomosu Hinohara and Ai Kayano as mysterious classmate Myou Kaneami. Mine Yoshizaki's Sgt. Frog featured plenty of Gundam plastic model building and its featured a rather attractive mother. The latest Gundam series, Build Fighters revolves around battling gunpla, and one element that has attracted plenty of fan attention is Rinko Iori, mother of the series lead and hobby shop proprietor. Yoshizaki has Tweeted a meeting of Rinko, Keroro and Aki Hinata, illustrated in Wii U Art Academy SketchPad.
Kadokawa's YouTube anime channel has posted the first promotional video for "Okerororin Project," a collaboration project between Mine Yoshizaki's long-running manga series Sgt.Frog/Keroro Gunsou and Naigai Yakuhin, a long-established pharmaceutical company. In 2010, a "My Ryoma Illustration" art exhibit toured Japan, offering 50 manga artists' interpretations of 19th century samurai and modernizer Sakamoto Ryōma. The exhibit will be revived starting January 27th to raise funds to support the victims of the March 2011 earthquake. See some of the art after the jump.
