The Shotaro Ishinomori Mangattan Museum, honoring the work of the pioneering manga/anime/tokusatsu creator, was built with corporation of national government and Ishimaki City in 2001 and became a tourist destination, attracting 180,000 visitors annually. During the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami, many of the building around the museum were destroyed and its facilities were substantially damaged. Upstart digital manga publisher Amimaru has added one of manga legend Shotaro Ishinomori's more obscure titles in Mutant Sabu to its Facebook-based manga reader app. Hit the jump for all of the details.
In 2008, Shotaro Ishinomori was posthumously awarded him the Guinness World Record for most comics/manga published by one author for a body of work over 128,000 pages, which included the creation of seminal superpowered team Cyborg 009. His towering influence also helped define the tokusatsu live action genre. November 17th, the museum in his honor will be holding a reopening ceremony. More after the jump.

The 3D anime adaptation of Shotaro Ishinomori's classic manga series Cyborg 009 is directed by Kenji Kamiyama (Eden of the East, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex). Get Your Comic, a digital manga service that offered manga via an iPhone apps announced today that Get Your Comic will be terminated as of September 30th 2011. The service had offered manga by tokusatsu trailblazer and Guinness World Record recipient for most comics published by one author, Shotaro Ishinomori. More after the jump.
