Following its February 18th Japanese opening, Sword Art Online anime movie Ordinal Scale has started playing in South Asia, and those screenings have resulted in leaks of recorded excerpts reportedly ranging from seconds to just under 10 minutes. According to ODEX, which distributes the film in Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines, this has potential to have further consequences for the region.
According to the latest box office report, Sword Art Online The Movie: Ordinal Scale, the all-new anime film based on Reki Kawahara's sci-fi action light novel series, delivered 425,762,760 yen from the 308,376 tickets sales, becoming the top-grossing film in Japan for the weekend of February 18-19. Those still playing Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization can look forward to some free bonus items next week. In celebration of the Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale anime movie, a pair of movie costumes will be available as a free download for for Kirito and Asuna on February 21.

Kadokawa has announced that a board game for one to four players based on the Sword Art Online anime franchise, titled "Sword Art Online Board Game: Sword of Fellows" will be released at the price of 3,240 yen (about 28.45 Us dollars) on June 29. Next month, Aniplex and Eleven Arts will be presenting North American screenings of Sword Art Online movie Ordinal Scale. Also with the previously listed USA dates, it will be presented in Canada starting on March 17th, and several showtimes are now available on Friday (3/17), Saturday (3/18), and Sunday (3/19). The first twelve minutes of Sword Art Online - Ordinal Scale was recently previewed on PlayStation 4. You'll notice various Sony (and other brands) making cameos. Among the family meetings is an appearance by Wagnaria, the family restaurant from Working!! (the adaptation of Karino Takatsu's manga was produced by A-1 Pictures, which is part of Aniplex, which is part of Sony Music Entertainment Japan).
