Turns out that Avatar fans didn't have to wait long for Good Smile Company's Legend of Korra teaser to turn into the launch of pre-orders for a chibi Nendoroid figure. That went on sale at the end of this weekend, along with a couple of cuties from popular games, Ruler/Jeanne d'Arc from Fate/Grand Order and Touken Ranbu -ONLINE's Monoyoshi Sadamune. Working with Studio Mir, anime producers Studio Pierrot contributed to a little animated series from overseas called Legend of Korra (specifically Book Two: Spirits 1-6 & 9). Through this involvement by the producer of Naruto and Tokyo Ghoul, Hiromi Takashima (Asagao to Kase-san., Miman Renai), a manga author primarily known for her shoujo ai work, was introduced to the fan favorite. A quick convert, Takashima enthusiastically responded with her own fanart.
Producer Atsushi Kurooka and the folks at Platinum Games have discussed their third-person beat 'em up video game adaptation of The Legend of Korra in a video posted on PlayStation's Youtube station. The game inspired by the animated show's first two seasons, with mini-games such as pro-bending matches and a Naga endless-runner will be released on October 21st for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, and on 22nd for Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
After finishing off season three on digital platforms in July, Legend of Korra is returning to Nick.com and Nickelodeon's app for its fourth and final season on October 3rd. More after the jump.
It looks like Legend of Korra might not be long for the broadcast TV airwaves. While a full explanation is expected from the animated series' San Diego Comic Con panel on Friday, what's shaping up is that this week's eighth episode of Book Three: Change will still air Friday at 8:00pm, then the rest of the season will be presented streaming online. Nickelodeon's rapid wrap of Legend of Korra: Book 2 got a bit faster today. Episodes “Night of A Thousand Stars” and “Harmonic Convergence” were scheduled to air tonight at 8/7c on Nick. The network then promised fans that they'd offer the final two episodes online if they reblogged a message from voice actress Janet Varney 10,000 times. And the goal was quickly achieved. After a brief hiatus, Legend of Korra is back this week at another new time. Co-creator Bryan Konietzko notes that the plans are to finish Book 2 of the series this month with Nickelodeon running one episode this week and next, then burning off the final four in hours blocks Novembers 15th and 22nd.
