Viz Media has announced that following its introduction to their digital Shonen Jump mazine, My Hero Academia, the break out hit by Kohei Horikoshi, the creator of Barrage (also published by VIZ Media) will launch in North America in August in print and also digitally across all territories serviced by VIZManga.com and the VIZ MANGA App. The title also will be available internationally from select VIZ Media content partners’ proprietary digital platforms.
Viz has announced the new titles joining their digital manga library this month. Along with the first volume of new shoujo Meteor Prince and the complete collection of Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama's Jaco the Galactic Patrolman, rescue titles include CLAMP's Shirahime-Syo and Duklyon, as well as sci-fi The Third.
Viz Media updated its Viz Manga store with a bunch of new digital first releases, including the digital release of Kagami Yoshimizu's four-panel manga Lucky☆Star. The first volume of the comedy series joins a digital exclusive release of One and Yusuke Murata's One-Punch Man vol. 4 and others. Read on for more.
At Anime Expo, Viz's Shojo Beat label announced that they will release the Vampire Knight: Life digital-only chapter in December. Meca Tanaka's two volume 2013 Meteor Prince, about an unlucky girl who meets a naked guy who falls to earth, will be released starting in January, and Aya Shouoto's 2013 ongoing supernatural reverse-harem The Demon Prince of Momochi House, will be released next summer.
Viz has announced that they will begin offering their manga on the digital, cloud based comiXology platform using its right-to-left "Manga Fixed Format." The publisher's manga is also offered on their own platform, Nook, iBookstore, Kindle and Google Play. Meanwhile Dark Horse has begun offering CLAMP titles on their digital platform starting with Clover and Card Captor Sakura. More after the jump.
This week, Viz introduces Yuto Tsukuda and Shun Saeki's ecchi cooking manga Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma to North America digitally through their app, Vizmanga.com, Nook, Kindle, Kobo, iBooks and GooglePlay stores. Looks like Honey Blood and Kiss of the Rose Princess aren't Viz Media's only shoujo plans being announced this week.. Magical realms, time travel and gorgeous gothic vampires as it announces the acquisition by its Shojo Beat imprint of new releases for Black Bird, Vampire Knight and a brand new series, Yukarism, that are scheduled to debut during the Fall of 2014. VIZ Media announced plans to expand their Studio Ghibli Library imprint expansion with two books in the fourth quarter of the year. A Princess Mononoke art book re-release will be joined Hayao Miyazaki's early, 1980 watercolor version of the story. More after the jump.

Like Vertical and Kodansha, Viz announced its latest slate of manga licenses at New York Comic Con today. Plans were headlined by what they're calling the "one of the best science fiction manga to come out in year," Terra Formars, as well as its fellow 2013 Manga Tasiho nominee, Ore Monogatari!! At this past weekend's Japan Expo USA, Viz Media announced that they have licensed Arina Tanemura's Phantom Thief Jeanne, formerly released in North America by CMX and slated for March 2014, and Tomu Ohmi's Spell of Desire, scheduled for August. More after the jump.
At this weekend's Otakon, Viz Media annoucned that they will be bringing back what was once on the most popular series in anime. Martial arts sex comedy Ranma 1/2 is set to return, with the anime coming to Neon Alley, Blu-ray and DVD, along with new reprints of the manga.
