Summer Simulcast - Occult Academy

Waldstein Academy in Matsushiro, Nagano Prefecture – Better known as Occult Academy, a well-known school where one can study about spirits, monsters, etc. We enter the school with Maya Kamashiro, the principal’s only daughter dressed completely in white with constant filming of her tapping her feet as if she is bored with what’s going on.

She is sitting at her father’s funeral procession and while things are proceeding as they should, a tape left by Maya’s father is played in the hall for all to hear. It seems like he was prepared for his death and left his last words on this tape.

As the students are listening to the message, he mistakenly reads a spell that wakes the ancient spirits of the dead which starts to cause havoc in the academy. The coffin bursts open and the students are attacked by the school president who is possessed by a dead spirit looking for his next victim....

All the students are frantic and try to run away as quickly as possible as the spirit of the deceased school president terrifies them! Maya with her stern look tells them that this is a complete setup to calm everyone down while some are skeptics, some begin to believe her as things calm down until the commotion continues.

We find out later in the first episode that Maya’s father spent his whole life building the Occult Academy which left little time for him to spend time with Maya as she was growing up. Maya is at the academy to destroy everything that he father spent his whole life on. Will she be successful in their mission of complete destruction? Watch as the story progresses every Tuesday at 11am PDT!

Summer Simulcast - Strike Witches 2

All the countries of the world joined forces to battle the Neuroi, a vicious enemy of mankind, who suddenly appeared. The only ones with the power to oppose them were an elite group of young girls who possessed special, magical powers. The protagonist, Yoshika Miyafuji, was dispatched from the Fuso Empire to Europe. She brilliantly succeeded in defeating the Neuroi in Gallia and made many friends along the way.

The members of the 501st Joint Allied Wing, more commonly known as the Strike Witches, have been enjoying six months of peace in Europe after the end of Season 1. But suddenly, the Neuroi appear anew and Yoshika’s friend, Lynne-chan, is in trouble...

Sakamoto-san, who is the sub commander of the unit, doesn’t allow Yoshika to go with her to fight the Neuroi but her desire to help others overcomes her so she joins Sakamoto-san against her wishes. In order to protect Europe from the horrific threat that the Neuroi pose, the Strike Witches take to the sky once again all wearing nothing but panties below their waist.

Go Strike Witches! Watch on Wednesdays at 4pm PDT!

Summer Simulcast - Asobi ni Ikuyo

Three seasons ago, panties rained from the sky with Sora no Otoshimono.

Two seasons ago, Omamori Himari showed us (again) how truly awesome sexy cat demons can be.

Now, we will be taken on another journey that seamlessly combines the best of Sora no Otoshimono and Omamori Himari together to make: ASOBI NI IKUYO: Bombshells from the Sky. (Come on. Who wasn’t sold on just the word “Bombshells?”)

ASOBI NI IKUYO: Bombshells from the Sky will air on July 15 at 10am PST and every subsequent Thursday at that time; and will be available worldwide except Japan, Korea and Mongolia.

Asobi ni Ikuyo: Bombshells from the Sky is the highly anticipated romantic comedy anime based on Okina Kamino’s Asobi ni Ikuyo! light novels published by Media Factory. This series features a slew of beautiful female characters voiced by an all-star cast including Haruka Tomatsu, Kana Hanazawa, Kanae Ito and Mutsumi Tamura!

Here’s a little taste of what you can expect from this brand new show:
“Kio and all her family members are gathered for a funeral in Okinawa. This same day, a message arrives from outer space. There she encounters a girl named Elis who claims to be an alien. The odd thing is... Elis has cat-ears and a tail. What does destiny have in store for Kio and Elis?”

Are you ready to catch the Bombshells?

Summer Simulcasts - Tono to Issho

It was a sad, sad day when Gintama – in all of its seemingly infinite Japanese comedic glory – ended its syndication. But things got brighter as Tono to Issho jumped on to the Crunchyroll scene!

Tono to Issho is a new bunch of short-clip gags ("gyags" in Japanese) that airs every week on Tuesday at 2pm PST, featuring tons of guest stars!!!

This particular series is adapted from the popular “yon-koma” (four-panel) gag manga of the same name in Japan, the title features an all-star voice cast including Gackt, one of the most popular Japanese music artists outside of Japan. Additional voiceover talent includes Daisuke Hirakawa, Tatsuhisa Suzuki and many others...

This show is definitely not for the easily confused and those that have a hard time grasping the quirky Japanese humor. However, if you are one of those that enjoyed shows like Gintama, Neko Rahmen and Peeping Life (moreover you got all those great jokes!) then this is the show for you! Even if you haven’t really gotten into shows like these, this is a wonderful chance for you to get yourself acquainted with the humor styling from the Land of the Rising Sun.

The subtly; the word-play; the obscure references to current events and momentary lapses in Japan’s illustrious history; these are all put out for display in Tono to Issho in the best possible way, truly capturing the essence of the comic strip from where it came from.

Everybody needs a little laughter in their life. So get your fill of it here, with Tono to Issho every Tuesday afternoon at 2pm PST!

Trivia

Did you know that Kochikame is the longest running manga to have been continuously serialized. It started in 1976 and to this date has over 161 volumes published?
